Congratulations to Kathy Muse, CSED Program Coordinator, who recently received a certificate from LSU AgCenter for successfully completing their Master Gardener Program. Topics in this course of instruction included palms & cyads, botany & plant propagation, basic entomology & plant pathology, weed science, soils, pesticides & the environment, vegetable, herb & organic gardening, home fruit & nut production, lawn care, ornamental horticulture, diagnostic keys to urban plant problems, and pest detection. The Master Gardener Handbook, which is a research-based resource for this class, is available at the CSED office for use by the community.

NORA to Auction 125 Properties City Wide
The New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA) has partnered with National Residential Auctioneers, LLC to auction 125+/- properties on Saturday, October 27, at 1 p.m. Registration will begin promptly at 11 a.m. The auction will be held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center, 900 Convention Center Boulevard in Hall E Room 245.

City Unveils New Technology to Track Blighted Properties
The City of New Orleans has unveiled BlightStatus, new technology to aid in the fight against blight in our city. BlightStatus is a new interactive online tool for residents to track the progress of blighted properties with the Code Enforcement system in New Orleans.

Renaissance Project Gardening Convening, Oct. 24-28
The Renaissance Project's 5th annual Regrowing Community Gardening Convening will take place citywide Oct. 24 - 28. This year's event begins with the celebration of National Food Day at the New Orleans Healing Center followed by an evening Art Exhibition and Open House at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Lower Ninth Ward. Events throughout the week include community gardening projects, youth performances, site-based workshops, and community meals.
