Welcome Julia Foster!
Project Access hires Chief Development Officer
As part of our growth strategy and investing in our infrastructure, we have hired Julia Foster, Chief Development Officer, to provide strategic leadership to Fund Development and Marketing. Julia served as Chief Development Officer at Irvine Barclay Theatre, where her focus was on increasing revenue and donor support through personal relationship cultivation, creation of social functions, and streamlining processes. Prior to her time at Irvine Barclay Theatre, she spent almost four years at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts (formerly Orange County Performing Arts Center) where she was hired as an Associate Director of Annual Giving. She was quickly promoted to Director of Annual Giving and subsequently into the position of Director of Major Gifts. During her tenure at SCFTA, she exceeded a personal $2 million annual goal. Julia's entree into the non-profit sector was as the Development Manager for Cultural Programs at Vail Valley Foundation in Vail, Colorado. Based on her experience and skills garnered in the for-profit world particularly in sales and event management, a friend suggested she apply for the position and the rest, as they say, is history. Numerous community leadership positions reflect her commitment to service including serving as an appointed Commissioner on a Planning & Zoning Commission, Board Member of the Vail Valley Theatre Company, review panelist for a cultural affairs grant program, dance teacher, and guest lecturer at UCI. Julia earned an Executive MBA from Chapman University and a B.A in Dance from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Welcome Julia! |

School Readiness Program
Preparing Youth for Future Success
Because of Project Access' School Readiness Program, twenty-three low income children have improved their potential for future success. The program's pre and post-tests demonstrated that every child made improvements in at least one area of their cognitive, gross motor, or social-emotional skills. Parents were also engaged in their child's learning and were provided training on how to help their child at home.
To integrate the use of technology in instruction, the School Readiness Program forged a partnership with PBS SoCaL which provided tablets for children to learn Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We are confident that these children will now enter Kindergarten ready to learn. These additional supports can alter a child's developmental trajectory during the school-age years and beyond. And, our goal is just that.

A Limitless World
Project Access iPad classes open the world to seniors
Mr. Chen thought he would never see his friend again. A senior living at Golden West Tower, Mr. Chen was cut off from his friend by distance - a distance he thought was too great to overcome. But something changed. Click here to read the rest of Mr. Chen's story.

"My world was only limited within my home, but Project Access allowed me to see the broader world." - Mr. Chen
