Kristin's Corner

Thankful

Greetings!

The season of thankfulness and giving is now upon us and in more ways than I could ever express, I am thankful for you. Every day you support Project Access, you change lives. As you reflect on 2013, I hope that you remember these little faces. Although you may not have met them, you have become a significant part of their lives.

Before 2013 passes us by, I ask you to consider changing just one more life by donating to Spread the Joy. Someone's life will be forever changed because of you.

With many thanks,

Kristin Byrnes

CEO & President

Spread the Joy Holiday Program

It's not too late!

If you're looking for a way to give back this season and make a difference in the life of someone in need, we have just the opportunity for you! Spread the Joy! You can help us spread holiday joy to low-income individuals before the year is up. There are four easy ways to get involved:

Donate!

Help us reach our goal of raising $21,000 to augment our current holiday funds. Your financial gift will deeply impact the lives of families and seniors in need this holiday season. Your gift might provide the only holiday meal or warm connection they receive this year!

Host a Toy Drive

It is our goal that each child that attends a holiday event receives a toy. You can host a drive at your office or organization meeting place and we will pick up the toys to distribute to our centers! Please view our wish list for more information on desired toys and contact Jennifer Bates at jbates@project-access.org.

Wish List

We are always in need of in-kind donations. Please view our wish list for more information.  Please note that all donations of items should be dropped off at our corporate office by Thursday, December 12, 2013.

Volunteer

Personally provide cheer at one of our many holiday parties. Opportunities range from facilitating games and crafts to serving food and cleaning up. Contact Mark Lee at mlee@project-access.org for more information on the various dates and times of opportunities.

We're Live in Denver, Colorado!

This year has marked a significant milestone for Project Access's growth as we launched the first Family Resource Centers outside the state of California. We have expanded our partnership with Bridge Investment Group Partners, whom we established partnership with in 2009 providing programs and services at their Warwick Square Apartment community located in Santa Ana, CA.

In an effort to uphold our standards of quality and to offer programs tailored to the needs of the community, we have already begun working with the property management team, conducting outreach to get to know the specific needs of the community. We are also pursuing collaborative partnerships to bring relevant programming within the community. We are off to a great start and look forward to potential future partnerships with the Food Bank of the Rockies, Aurora Community Connections, Cooking Matters Colorado, Aurora Mental Health Center and many more local agencies, nonprofits and educational institutions.

With the addition of our two new locations in Denver, Project Access is providing services at over 50 locations throughout California and now, Colorado! We look forward to future growth and enriching the lives of those we serve!

USC Launches Longitudinal Research Project

Spearheaded by Dr. Juan Araque of the USC School of Social Work, Project Access has launched a longitudinal research study (more than 18 months) to understand the long-term  impact of our services on indicators of health, education, financial stability and quality of life.  Three locations with varying levels of service "dosage" will participate in the study.

We hope this data will help us and the affordable housing industry better understand the optimal level of services needed to make the greatest impact in the community. Results are expected in late 2015 and will be used to help Project Access better serve low-income families with programs that make long- lasting changes in their lives.

CEO and President of Project Access, Kristin Byrnes, said, "This study is just one of the ways Project Access uses data and evaluation to strengthen our social impact."

Change a Life Today!

Low-income families and seniors need your support! 2013 was a hard year for many, but as it draws to a close, you can give those in need something to be thankful for--you! Being part of changing someone's life is simple. Donate or volunteer today!
