Featured Partner
Project Access works with nearly 80 partner organizations to deliver the most comprehensive services to our residents. Without them, many of our programs would not be possible. A new feature of our newsletter will be to highlight one of our priceless partners and the good work they do! This month we want to recognize Anaheim Regional Medical Center (ARMC) who is currently providing a Tabaco Cessation program to six Project Access Family Resource Centers in the Anaheim/Fullerton region. Through this program, interested residents will be provided with tips on how to quit smoking, and information on the effects of nicotine addiction. Thank you, ARMC for providing this valuable service to our community! For more information on this Orange County funded program, please call 1-866-NEW- LUNG.

6th Annual Keys to Success Gala raises over $149,000!
Inspire Your Imagination
On September 24, 2011, Project Access hosted its 6th Annual Keys to Success Gala, Inspire Your Imagination, at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. We raised over $149,000 to help keep family members employed, children in school and seniors active. The Garcia-Angeles Family was honored as the 2011 Family of the Year. The family of five have turned their lives around thanks to the services offered by Project Access, including tutoring, financial literacy and nutrition classes. Thanks to Project Access the family is now a role model to other families in their community! Project Access also honored six scholarship recipients, who are improving their quality of life through higher education. In keeping with the theme, Inspiring Your Imagination, the Gala offered an exciting evening, which included Cirque du Soleil style performances, a martini bar, and an amazing live and silent auction. Proceeds from the event will support vital health, employment and education programs that Project Access offers its residents. These services eliminate barriers, close the gap and set our residents up for long-term success! Thank you to our event committee, staff, volunteers, sponsors, and the Project Access Board of Directors, who made this successful event a reality.

Project Access Founder and Chairman, Jonathan Webb, named a Local Hero!
Neighborhood Excellence
We are thrilled that Project Access founder, Jonathan Webb (left) has been selected as a 2011 Local Hero award recipient through the Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative. In honor of Jonathan's commitment to the growth and vitality of Orange County, Bank of America gave him the opportunity to award a $5,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, Inc. to a charity of his choice. Thanks to Jonathan's generosity, Project Access will be the recipient of the grant.
Jonathan, along with business partner William Hirsch, founded Project Access in 1999 after seeing the need in the affordable housing community for residents to receive comprehensive on-site social services.
Jonathan is a local hero to the thousands of residents that Project Access serves each year. Without his foresight and leadership, thousands of children would be behind in school, hundreds of families would not have been able to find or retain jobs, and hundreds of seniors would likely lose their independence.
Congratulations, Jonathan! We are so proud of you!

Project Access in the Community
Teen Conference
On August 19, we hosted the 5th Annual Teen Conference, A Path to Your Future! Participants were engaged in workshops that included career exploration and college life beyond the classroom. The event took place at Fullerton College and was hosted by the EOPS department.
The day's activities allowed youth to explore the various paths to higher education, as well as, expose teens to the college life outside of academics (social, political and recreational). In doing this, Project Access helped youth identify personal interests and career paths, and educated them on the possibilities of education. There is a path for everyone! (trade/vocational, community college, 4 year university).
Seniors in Action
Project Access resident, Kim Nguyen (right) from the Senior Resource Center at Windsor Court was honored by State Senator Lou Correra for Seniors Making a Difference Day for her community service in Westminster, CA.

Senior residents, like Gloria (left) at the Project Access Family Resource Center at Hallmark House in Redwood City, CA made crocheted hats and blankets for "Bundle of Joy" bags, a program offered to new parents at the San Mateo Medical Center!
Volunteer and Partnership
Appreciation Luncheon
Partners and Volunteers enjoyed an afternoon of fun and recognition at the Annual Volunteer and Partner Appreciation Luncheon held at Energy Field Park in Anaheim, CA. We recognized our 80 partner organizations and100+ volunteers and interns! Each one helps us reach our goal of keeping family members employed, children in school and seniors active. Without them we would not be able to serve over 10,400 residents. THANK YOU!
