January 2016 - In This Issue:
Winter Weather Safety

It appears that winter is finally upon us.  In light of the weather in the forecast, we thought it would be a good time to send out some winter driving safety tips.

Please share the Winter Weather Safe Driving and the Winterizing your Vehicle LyonsEDU Safety and Risk Control TIPS with your employees, family and friends.
Don't forget: OSHA Annual Summary must be posted by February 1st

If an organization has 10 or more employees, it is required to complete OSHA's injury and illness record keeping forms on an ongoing basis. These records will be requested during any OSHA visit. Further, the OSHA 300A Summary must be posted in a common area from February 1 until April 30. Organizations can incur a citation and fine if they do not comply with these regulations. Current and former employees, or their representatives, have the right to access injury and illness records.
Reporting is simple for clients that use the Lyons Risk Management Center's online OSHA log from their client portal - the OSHA Form 300A can be created right from the portal. For clients not taking advantage of this feature, now's the time to start using it for your 2016 work-related injuries and illnesses.

Attend a live webinar or recorded presentation to help you understand OSHA's posting requirements and how to utilize Incident Track to complete and post OSHA 300 logs. This overview will be delivered by our certified safety and health experts.
Safety Recall Notice: MSA Workman Self Retracting Lanyard

Please read the detailed document from MSA regarding their Workman Self Retracting Lanyard. The notice identifies a potential safety issue with these popular lanyards dealing with an improper brake nut torque setting.  The condition is not detectable when performing the normal pre-use inspection.  The document also includes an Order Form to replace affected units.

Visit the MSA website for a list of all of their User Safety Notices.
