Happy New Year! We know each and every member wants to be successful in 2015, and wanted to offer a few ideas to help. Here are the Top 5 ways to maximize your membership throughout the year.
1. Take advantage of your member inclusions, including plenty of free online postings -- promotions, events, jobs, press releases and more. Rebecca Wiles can get you started.
2. Using our 2015 Event Calendar, select a list of programs that best meet your goals. We can guide you upon request based on your interests.
3. Consider one of our advertising or sponsorship options to stand out from the crowd. We offer a diverse range of marketing opportunities to encompass the needs of all members.
4. Make it a priority to attend one of our Membership 101 sessions or schedule a 1-1 with our Membership Manager to learn how to access the chamber and its many resources.
5. Get involved! Serve as a volunteer on one of our committees, carve out time to read our communications, or simply contact us to see how we can support your organization.

CEO Insights is a new series this year with the Chamber. Local c-suite executives will educate attendees on how they successfully built and transformed their organizations while discussing industry and leadership trends we can all benefit from. Our first CEO Insights serves as one of three women's events offered annually, and features Andra Rush, CEO of Rush Trucking. This event, held on February 23 at the Marriott Centerpoint, is open to all. Our second CEO Insights features Ric DeVore and is offered in partnership with the Troy Chamber of Commerce at Oakland University, where DeVore serves as a trustee. The event is held on April 22. Devore is the executive Vice President and Regional President for Detroit and Southwest Michigan, serves as PNC's lead banker and chairs the local PNC Foundation. Members are invited to attend thee high-powered events for just $30 (early bird pricing). Lunch is included. Non-members are welcome to attend for $40.Table sponsorships are available if you organization is interested in supporting these programs. More than 150 members and guests helped celebrate the best of the best at last month's Silver & Gold Award and Holiday Brunch. Winners would not have been recognized without the help of the members who nominated themselves or their peers. For future planning, 2015 nominations will open in October for all sponsored awards.
The Silver & Gold Committee is identifying a venue to hold the 2015 program. Seating for 200 is required for the proposed date of Friday, December 11. Members interested in hosting are invited to contact the chamber at 248.853.7862.

Oakland University's 100,000 Milestone: More than 1,900 students graduated in Winter 2014, helping OU surpass the 100,000th alumni milestone. This metric includes 100,000 teachers, engineers, nurses, business entrepreneurs, and successful professionals across Metro Detroit and beyond.
Chrysler Group Changes Name: Chrysler Group announced the changed company name to FCA US LLC. The change follows the name transition of its parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V.
Sea Life Plans January Opening: Sea Life Michigan Aquarium, a 35,000-square-foot attraction in Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills, announced it will open on January 29.

Genisys Credit Union Earns Award: Genisys Credit Union has earned the Bauer Financial's Prestigious Sustained Superiority Award. This award is given to credit unions that are in the 90th percentile for financial strength and security and who have received a five-star rating for at least the latest 78 consecutive quarters. Thinking of Starting a Business? Oakland County is hosting a free workshop on February 12, designed to aspire entrepreneurs assess their abilities to lead and manage a company, as well as evaluate market and sales potential for their products/services. The Gore Group Acquires U.S. Farathane Corp.: Private equity firm The Gores Group acquired Auburn Hills-based U.S. Farathane Corp. for more than $500 million. Los Angeles-based The Gores Group is led by Alec Gores, brother of Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores. Rochester Mills Production Brewery Gives Back: Rochester Mills Production Brewery will host the 12th Annual Open Your Heart event on February 5. Proceeds will benefit the Lighthouse of Oakland County, an organization that aids families with housing, utilities and other day-to-day needs. Nominations Sought for 2015 Govenor's Service Awards: These awards are given annually by the Governor to acknowledge individuals, organizations, and businesses who are committed to service and volunteerism in their communities.
