Board Member Bill Pilchak Publishes First Novel 
 Bill Pilchak with Denise Asker the book launch party.  
Nothing but the Truth is a legal suspense thriller written by Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce Board Member Bill Pilchak, owner of Pilchak and Cohen. It is his first novel.
 
This metro Detroit lawyer has been honored by his peers as a "Best Lawyer," "Super Lawyer" and a DBusiness "Top Lawyer." He holds degrees in creative writing and politics from Central Michigan University.

Great Turnout for Women Tell All...Almost
PNC Bank Shows Support During the Annual Women Tell All...Almost Luncheon 

More than 125 women turned out for last month's Women Tell All...Almost event at the Royal Park Hotel, featuring three high-profile leaders:  Auburn Hills Police Chief Doreen Olko, Oakland Community College Vice Chancellor of External Affairs Sharon Miller, and Vice President of Beaumont Health Systems Nancy Susick.  
 
The Women's Alliance's next event is CEO Insights, featuring Andra Rush of Rush Trucking.  This event is held on Monday, Feb. 23.  For more information, visit auburnhillschamber.com.

The Auburn Hills Chamber is partnering with Easter Seals of Michigan to bring a new event to downtown Auburn Hills next year.  The Color Me Extra-ordinary Run will take place during the City of Auburn Hills' Summerfest, held on June 20.  

The Chamber and Easter Seals are inviting businesses to sponsor the event, which will open for registration in January. Sponsorships feature a variety of inclusions, such as t-shirt branding, signage, and months of digital marketing promotion.  This family-friendly event is a fun -- and colorful -- way to celebrate the extraordinary impact Easter Seals makes on the community. 
Excellence in Education 
2014 Excellence in Education students and teachers.
Excellence in Education was developed in keeping with the mission of the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce. Designed to promote the link between business, education and the community, the program recognizes excellence in both students and teachers.  Public and private schools within Auburn Hills are included, and more than 150 teachers, parents, students, community leaders and business representatives attend.

Meet New Event Specialist Renee Ronan:  The Chamber has recently welcomed Event Specialist Renee Ronan. Renee comes with years of event planning, public relations and community relations experience, and is busy planning next year's events and programs.  
 
Auburn Hills Chamber Breaks for the Holidays:   
After a very busy year, the office will close on Dec. 23 and will reopen on Jan. 5 so that staff members may take vacation time and recharge for 2015.  
 
Executive Director Appointed President of Oakland Chamber Network:  Auburn Hills Chamber Executive Director Denise Asker, will assume the role of president of Oakland Chamber Network in January. OCN is comprised of more than 25 chambers throughout the county.  The group meets quarterly to discuss shared issues, and plans several member-focused events on an annual basis.

Unified Communications and Plante Moran Provide Another Year of Service to the Auburn Hills Chamber:  Member Unified Communications provided free phone service to the Chamber again this year, saving the organizations thousands in administrative costs.  And Plante Moran completed its forth year of contribution to the organization's bottom line, by providing monthly reconciliation to the Chamber in preparation for board reporting.  The Chamber is grateful to these service providers for their constant support and generosity.

Eagle Ottawa to expand:  Automotive leather supplier Eagle Ottawa announced a $10 million expansion to its Rochester Hills tech center. The project includes a 16,500-square-foot expansion of its facility at 2930 W.Auburn Road, which includes space for 50 new employees, new prototyping and validation capabilities, and new space for customers.

 

Overeaters Anonymous:  Crittenton Hospital Medical Center is offering a 12-step support group that helps people deal with any unhealthy relationship with food. Anyone struggling with anorexia, bulimia, or overweight issues is welcome. The first meeting is Dec. 21 at 7 pm. For more information call 248.652.5000.

 

Faurecia's Toys for Tots Drive a Success:

Over 200 toys were donated, and over $800 raised in cash donations. The money was used to purchase four overflowing carts of toys at Toys R Us. The toys were delivered to the Toys for Tots Drop-Off Center in Pontiac.  

  

Habitat Oakland Needs Your Help:  Habitat Oakland County wants to plow residential driveways in Pontiac, Madison Heights, and Waterford, sidewalks in Pontiac, Madison Heights, Waterford, Ferndale and Royal Oak Twp. Interested parties may contact: Andrew Boger at [email protected]

  

Baker College Ranks Top for Interior DesignBaker College of Auburn Hills interior design program has received the Excellence in Education Award from the National Kitchen & Bath Association in recognition of the college's adherence to the highest standards of kitchen and bath design instruction.     

 

Tri-Pointe Community Credit Union and Genisys Credit Union to MergeTwo financially strong Michigan credit unions, Tri-Pointe Community Credit Union of Grand Blanc and Genisys Credit Union of Auburn Hills, have announced their intent to combine through a merger.  The credit union will continue to operate under the Genisys name and will have assets totaling more than $1.8 billion.

 

New Vice President of Marketing named for Oakland University: Oakland University President George Hynd has named John Young vice president of communications and marketing, effective Jan. 1. The move is one of the strategic changes in Oakland University's development and implementation of a new strategic plan that will help shape the future of OU.     

 

YMCA offers Winter 2015 Youth Basketball League  

Community leagues are available for youth, ages 4-11, to learn basketball skills and have fun. Children learn basketball fundamentals in an environment that encourages fair play and teamwork.
