9th and Los Angeles Intersection Renamed Stanley Hirsh Square

The intersection at 9th and Los Angeles Streets is being renamed "Stanley Hirsh Square" in honor of the late businessman who played a vital role in LA's fashion industry and the creation of the LA Fashion District. His family still owns our beloved Cooper Design Space and the Bendix Building, among other buildings in the area.

Please join us for the official dedication this Friday, May 13th, 9 a.m. at 860 S Los Angeles St.

Kent Smith to Retire from LA Fashion District BID



After 17 years, LA Fashion District BID Executive Director, Kent Smith is stepping down. Smith helped build the organization and strengthen its position as an acknowledged leader in the neighborhood. Under his direction, the Fashion District BID has grown to 100 blocks and become one of the most recognized business improvement districts in the country. We wish him the best and thank him for 17 years of service. Thank you Kent!

The LA Fashion District Board of Directors has created a special committee to lead the transition process and initiate the search for a new executive director.

Hanjip Korean BBQ Opening on Spring Street


Culver City Korean barbecue joint, Hanjip is opening its first Downtown location at 716 S Spring St. reports Eater LA. While construction is underway, there is no official opening date. Read the full story here.
