Bud Light Builds Pac-Man Maze in the District
Did you see it? Bud Light built a life-size Pac-Man maze for a rumored Super Bowl commercial at the Joe's Parking lot on 9th and Main! Filming for the commercial also took place across the street at Pattern Bar.

Holiday Campaign Instagram Contest Winners
As we mentioned in December, the Fashion District ran an ugly sweater contest on Instagram as part of our holiday campaign. Participants had to visit the Fashion District and Instagram themselves while wearing ugly holiday sweaters. The grand prize was a $1,000 Fashion District shopping spree. The grand prize winner is pictured in the top left photo. The three additional winners pictured were selected at random. You can see them all by searching #holidayfashiondistrict on Instagram.

New Trash Can Signage and December Trash Tonnage Report
Over the holiday season, the BID Clean Team installed new trash can signage throughout the district. The new signs are much larger and will help increase brand visibility. It was necessary to replace the old signs, as most were damaged or missing.
Social Equity: A Discussion of its Form and Implications for Downtown
Fashion District Executive Director, Kent Smith was part of national panel for a webinar with the International Downtown Association. The Panel discussed how downtown organizations are framing the social equity topic. As downtowns around the world continue to grow and become destinations for a skilled workforce, millenials and retiring boomers, what social opportunities are being created and what challenges require mitigation to sustain vibrant urban cores? The panel included speakers Karin Flood, Executive Director, Union Square BID in San Francisco, Michael Berne, a national retail consultant and Brad Segal, a national downtown economic consultant. Kent pointed out that the vibrant nature of our neighborhood is because of the diverse and broad appeal of retailers in the Fashion District. The panel is part of a web series, offered by the International Downtown Association, that creates opportunities for peers to discuss trends that are shaping and reshaping city centers. Designer Thelma Siguenza recently opened her ready-to-wear and custom made apparel store in the Wurlitzer Building, 814 S Broadway. She plans to offer modern, minimalist clothes that have a luxurious sense to them. Already on the racks are a few things from her own label, PB 1930. Read the story in California Apparel News .
Preux & Proper Opens at 840 S Spring St.
Preux & Proper is now open on the corner of 9th and Spring Streets, formerly The Parish. Executive Chef Michael Ruiz has crafted Preux & Proper's menu, a New Orleans flavor-infused and market-driven selection of plates like smoked shrimp beignets and crab cakes. Proper's upstairs restaurant offers a selection of fresh seafood. Expect daily specials ranging from a variety of oysters on the half shell to crab claws and lobster cocktails. Open for dinner 7-1 p.m.
