Pop-Up Broadway - September 28 & 29, 2014

On Sunday, September 28 and Monday, September 29, the stretch of Broadway from Olympic Boulevard to 7th Street will be activated by Community Arts Resources (CARS) with street performers, cultural programming, site-specific installations, and other ephemeral urban interventions. The intent of this urban overlay, dubbed Pop-Up Broadway, is to demonstrate the power behind the Great Streets Initiative to transform the everyday experience of Angelenos. Click here for the flyer.

DTLA Homeless Solution Panel

Join Councilmember Jose Huizar on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, 514 S Spring St for the DTLA Homelessness Solutions Panel and be heard on your opinions about homelessness in downtown.To attend this panel, please RSVP here

Utility Boxes Get a Make Over

 



The LA Fashion District joins the list of DTLA neighborhoods whose grey utility boxes are being transformed into public art statements. The box in the photo is located at Olympic Boulevard and Main Street. The artistic and colorful utility box make overs are made possible thanks to Council District 14 that was also instrumental in passing the city's new mural ordinance.


50 Ways to Shop DTLA

Brigade LA owner Kuo Yan and Cinnia Finfer just published their second map of downtown Los Angeles where designer and contemporary looks are sold. The map not only shows the best known shops which have received accolades from national glossy fashion magazines, such Oak in the Fashion District, it also marks the addresses of designer ateliers such as martinMartin and Daniel Patrick, also in the Fashion District. Click Here to see the map.


 

Upcoming Fall 2014 Markets and Tradeshow

We have four market weeks and six trade shows coming up, starting at the end of September and going through mid-October. First up is the LA Gift & Home Market at the California Market Center (CMC) September 28-30, followed by the LA Int'l Textile Show September 29 - October 1, also at the CMC. With October comes, LA Fashion Market, October 13-15. Select showrooms will be open on October 12 for Sunday preview, and a series of trade shows running in conjunction with market week. The WALL Farmer's Market Hosts Alex's Lemonade Stand
Throughout the month of September every Saturday, 9a-2p the LA Flower District farmer's market will be hosting Alex's Lemonade Stand, a national non-profit which raises money to combat childhood cancer... more info.
