Three New Coffee Houses Open in the Fashion District

Three new coffee houses have opened up in the Fashion District in recent weeks. The Classic Coffee Bar (862 S Main St.) serves Intelligentsia coffee and features "The Fashionista", a double shot of espresso, ice, milk, and simple syrup. The new coffee house meeting place has expansion plans that include a new apparel line and showroom/art gallery/ rooftop lounge.

Over in Santee Village, Coffee Collab (305 E 8th St. Unit 3) offers district residents and patrons espresso and pour over coffee drinks from small local roasters, including Suits & Knives. In The Blackstone, Post Coffee Shop opened at 216 W 9th St.

We've counted at least 14 coffee shops in the Fashion District, ranging from specialty roasters to local mom-and-pop shops offering their best cup of joe. It's an exciting time for coffee lovers around here!

Fashion District Safe Team Update

Thanks to the hard work of the LA Fashion District BID's 24-hour response Safe Team, there has been very little crime in the area. In the last two and a half months, the BID Safe Team has made or been involved in 21 arrests, 19 of which were made for malicious mischief involving vandalism or graffiti. Two of the arrests made resulted in the discovery of previous convictions.

The LA Fashion District works closely with the Los Angeles Police Department to provide a safe environment for our residents, shoppers, and business owners. If you see any suspicious activity in the district, please contact our Safe Team immediately at 213-741-2661.

Tell LADWP What Works for You
The City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP) wants to hear from property owners about what could replace previous DWP discounts related to the Enterprise Zones which were disbanded as of Jan. 1, 2014. Please take a minute to fill out this survey and tell them what a new business promotion program should look like. Their goal is to have a more refined draft to share in late June before going to the DWP board in the summer.

LADWP Utility Infrastructure Loan Survey

Since 2002, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) has been offering customers a utility infrastructure Loan (UIL) to assist them in funding projects related to water conservation, energy efficiency, solar energy, and general utility infrastructure. As part of a renewed drive to improve programs, products and services, LADWP is currently evaluating the UIL to determine whether to change, improve, or even discontinue the program.

Your feedback is, therefore, extremely important. Please let LADWP know what you think by completing this quick survey.
