C Spire Doubles Power, 
Bandwidth of 4G LTE+ Network

C Spire has doubled the wireless spectrum on 604 4G LTE+ cell sites in the past 6 months.
C Spire, whose wireless unit is one of the nation's leading mobile service providers, recently announced that it has doubled the bandwidth and power throughout much of its 4G LTE+ network, resulting in faster peak speeds and better overall coverage for consumers.

C Spire, which operates the nation's largest privately held wireless communications unit, said its "Covered in Blue" network enhancement and expansion initiative has improved average mobile broadband speeds for consumers by 71 percent, rivaling speeds offered by many fixed broadband Internet service providers.

In the last six months, the company has doubled the wireless spectrum on 604 of its 681 4G LTE+ cell sites in Mississippi, boosted power on 397 cell sites and expanded 4G+ LTE coverage to 115 new cell sites along with a myriad of other improvements to routers, switches, processors and cell site equipment to enhance overall network performance.

Ingalls Shipbuilding Begins Fabrication of Destroyer Delbert D. Black (DDG 119)


 

Ima Black reacts after starting a plasma cutter machine at Ingalls Shipbuilding, officially beginning construction of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer Delbert D. Black (DDG 119), which is named in honor of her late husband.
Huntington Ingalls Industries' Ingalls Shipbuilding division recently marked the start of fabrication for the Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) guided missile destroyer Delbert D. Black (DDG 119). The start of fabrication signifies that 100 tons of steel have been cut.

The ship is named in honor of Delbert D. Black, who served as a gunner's mate in the U.S. Navy and was aboard the battleship USS Maryland during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Black served in three wars and was the first Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy.

Delbert D. Black is the 32nd Arleigh Burke-class destroyer to be built at Ingalls. To date, Ingalls has delivered 28 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers to the Navy.

Steel Dynamics Adds 40 Jobs at 
Columbus Mill


Gov. Phil Bryant, the Golden Triangle Development LINK and officials from Steel Dynamics, Inc., announced recently that the company is expanding through the addition of painting and Galvalume� capabilities at its Columbus steel mill, adding 40 jobs.

Steel Dynamics is an MEC member.

Indianola Pecan House Expansion Adds 10 Jobs

Officials from Indianola Pecan House announce the company is expanding operations in Indianola. The project represents a $50,000 corporate investment and will create 10 jobs, bringing the total number employed at the Indianola location to 60.

Indianola Pecan House is an MEC member.

Next Gear Solutions Brings 60 Jobs 
to Oxford

Officials from Next Gear Solutions, provider of management software for the restoration industry, announced recently that the company is expanding its customer service operations in Oxford. The project represents a corporate investment of $58,800 and will create 60 new jobs.

"Mississippi's economy continues to grow and our economic development efforts continue to yield success. Small businesses and global corporations alike understand that our state is a great place to do business," Gov. Phil Bryant said.

Groupe Acticall Announces Acquisition of Sitel

French corporation Groupe Acticall recently announced its acquisition of Sitel on its website.  Sitel, a market leader in outsourced customer care innovation, brings over 30 years of industry experience, 61,100 employees, customers that include some of the best known brands in the world, and advanced technology solutions to Groupe Acticall's portfolio of companies. 

Groupe Acticall has over 7,500 employees and manages more than 65 million customer contacts annually.

Applications Opening August 3

You Can Be a Part of Something Special

In any business, strong leaders are necessary for success. Leaders rise above the crowd and push through difficult times. There is no better way to ensure you are ready for future success than by applying to participate in the second-oldest leadership program in the nation!

Leadership Mississippi will begin accepting applications and nominations for the Class of 2016 on Monday, August 3rd.  Nominations will be open until Tuesday, September 1st, and the application process will close on Monday, September 14th.

Participants are selected by a committee of MEC's Leadership Mississippi Alumni and work together in a training program that combines individual study, group sessions and project experience in using leadership skills.

Since its inception in 1974, Leadership Mississippi has graduated more than 1,100 alumni active in Mississippi business and politics. Mississippi's top business executives, community leaders, and even a former Governor have participated in Leadership Mississippi as a way to expand their networks and possibilities for future success.

DPM Fragrance to Construct Facility in Starkville, 
Creating 100 Jobs

Gov. Phil Bryant, the Golden Triangle Development LINK and officials from DPM Fragrance announced recently that the company is expanding through the construction of a new facility in Starkville.

The project will result in a minimum financial investment of $5 million and will create 100 jobs.

The new facility will be located on 25 acres of land in Cornerstone Park, off MS Highway 25. Construction of the building, designed to approximately 150,000 square feet, will begin late 2015.
