Huntington Ingalls Industries' Edenzon Participates in Special Olympics Opening Ceremony

The former president of Huntington Ingalls Industries'  Ingalls Shipbuilding division led Mississippi's Special Olympics team in the opening ceremony of the 2014 USA Games recently in New Jersey. Irwin F. Spirit of America...Spirit of Mississippi...
Passing of a Friend and Leader

Dear  ,

A long time MEC board member, Dr. Ted J. Alexander - who was well known in our state for his leadership in establishing the Lower Pearl River Valley Foundation as well as the Mississippi Council on Economic Education and for his long service in education, particularly as the President of Pearl River Community College from 1986-2000 - died early Wednesday at age 78.

He was quintessentially positive and was a leader who clearly defined his community...and focused his personal and professional resources aggressively toward making a meaningful difference on behalf of his fellow Mississippians. His leadership and friendship will be missed. Click Here for a tribute to Dr. Alexander from Pearl River Community College. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but will be posted at the Moore Funeral Service website when available - Click Here.

Dr. Alexander is an example of so many Mississippi leaders who clearly define where they can make a difference...and then make it a point of getting it done. In a state that must make the most of its resources, this kind of human capital commitment is what moves the state forward.

It is the same kind of spirit of commitment that our Founders made in 1776 that we continue to recognize this Independence Day weekend. It is the true spirit of America which so often gets lost in the 24 hour news cycle of sound bites and barbs. Our nation is a place of great opportunity and hope - and by following the kind of positive path of service to our fellow Americans and Mississippians taken by the generations who are now only in our memory, we can keep that spirit alive.

We hope you have a wonderful July 4th weekend. It is a great celebration of truly a great country and its people.

Keep the faith,

Blake Wilson
