STEAM & NGSS

With the adoption of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), California has intensified its commitment to making sure students are prepared for jobs in STEAM-related industries.  Economic  indicators show that careers in these fields have grown three times greater than non-STEAM occupations and they are expected to continue to grow at a faster rate in the coming decade.

The NGSS will transform education by fostering deeper understanding of the key concepts and practices associated with science and engineering. In addition, by integrating with and building upon California's CCSS standards in Mathematics and English Language Arts, the NGSS emphasize creativity, critical thinking and real-world application of skills.

"The difference between science and the arts is not that they are different sides of the same coin... or even different parts of the same continuum, but rather, they are manifestations of the same thing. The arts and sciences are avatars of human creativity."
