What is Global Competence?
children-globe.jpg

Our increasingly interconnected

and interdependent world

requires that students have a

thorough understanding of global issues.

Global Competence has four basic elements:

International Awareness

(Knowledge and understanding of world history and global events)

Appreciation of Cultural Diversity

(Ability to understand other cultures and acknowledge other points of view)

Proficiency in World Languages

(Capability to communicate to diverse audiences)

Competitive Skills

(Proficiency in functioning in an interdependent world community)

Quote
"There are three basic skills that students need if they want to thrive in a knowledge economy:  the ability to do critical thinking and problem-solving; the ability to communicate effectively; and the ability to collaborate."
