Greetings Parents!

Report Cards
The first 9-weeks Report Cards will be sent home on Wednesday, October 23

Parent Poll
Following is the survey monkey link to the Parent Poll from the September Administrators Coffee. The poll asks some basic questions of parents concerning Casis Elementary -  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CasisParentPoll

Hard copies of this poll will still be available in the front office throughout the month of October. I invite and encourage you to complete either versions of this poll and submit it by October 31st. I will share the results of this parent feedback tool and others (student and staff) later in the school year. I look forward to the feedback, as we continue to develop our vision for the Casis Learning Community.

My First Carnival
A wonderful time was had by all at this year's Carnival! The fairy tale festivities far exceeded my expectations. The Haunted Forest was amazing and theme-park worthy. (- : What a wonderful time we had together. I feel so fortunate to be a part of such an awesome community of learners. Special thanks to the carnival coordinators and all who supported their efforts.

October Administrators Coffee
Join me and the assistant principals for our second coffee of the school year on this Friday, October 25th, 8:15 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. in the Library. We'll discuss various school related topics of interest and continue to get to know each other better.

Casis Students Filmed for 'State of the District Address

Two of our fifth grade students from Leadership Casis have been selected to be filmed for the State of the District Address by Superintendent, Dr. Meria Carstarphen. The students are Elena Baldridge and Matthew Winkler. Both students are in Ms. Heather McKinzey's class. The AISD Fine Arts Director, Greg Goodman, will be visiting our campus this week to film them. Congratulations!

National School Lunch Week
With all of the excitement of the Carnival, we were remiss in recognizing our wonderful cafeteria workers. Last week (Oct. 14th - 18th) was National School Lunch Week. We'd like to recognize our food service workers who make sure that our children and staff receive  nutritious meals every day. Please join me in appreciating them for their service to our school. There will be additional opportunities to appreciate our lunchroom monitors and parent volunteers in the spring.

Campus Advisory Council
The Casis Campus Advisory Council (CAC) meets every 1st Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in the Library. This special group of volunteers is made up of school administration, staff, parents, and community representatives. The CAC assists the school in making site-based decisions about various topics: local budget, campus improvement plan, AISD school calendar, site-based operations, and also acts as a voice for Casis at the district level.  There is always an opportunity for citizens communication in the meeting as well. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, November 5th. Please consider joining us as we discuss important matters that concern our Casis Learning Community.

October Observances
·        October is National Bullying Prevention Month!
·        October 14th - 18th is National School Lunch Week!

Traffic Reminders
Please continue to adhere to the various guidelines in your particular arrival/dismissal area (Front Circle Drive, Hillview, or Northwood). We continually ask for your patience and cooperation in exercising safe practices in your area.

A Note from the PTA President

Dear Casis Families,

WOW!  What an amazing and successful Casis Ever After Carnival!  It took a huge team effort and lots of hours to put on such a great event-one that truly matters and directly impacts the entire school.

Thank you to the amazing Carnival chairs Jen Kolerich, Shannon McCarroll and Katie Thomas, the Carnival committee, Casis administration, teachers, staff, Alba and her team, parents, and students!  We could not have had a better Casis Ever After without the leadership and support from all of you!  Congratulations on a job well done!

Please mark your calendar on Friday, November 8th at 7:30 a.m. as we will have a Veteran's Day Flag Raising.  The following week, we will have a PTA General meeting at 8:15 a.m.  We are pleased to have Officer Shelby Criswell to discuss social media.

Thank you,

Tina McCutchin
