EFLM Grant Spotlight:
Isaiah Zagar Mural Project
With the help of a grant from the Education Foundation of Lower Merion, the Welsh Valley Middle School community recently teamed with one of Philadelphia's most prolific and preeminent artists, Isaiah Zagar, to create a monumental work of art that enlivens the school's formerly drab Commons building and welcomes visitors to the auditorium.

Nearly every student in the school worked to embellish Zagar's original composition by creating, placing, and polishing each individual tile. In addition to embodying communal harmony and the collaborative process, the work serves as a celebration of the life of student and friend Sean King, who passed away earlier this year. The project was spearheaded by Welsh Valley art teacher Todd Marrone. The EFLM grant was supplemented by support from LMSD administration, Welsh Valley Student Government, and the Welsh Valley Home & School Association.

Bricks and Pavers Make Great Holiday Gifts!
The Education Foundation's Brick Campaign is still going strong!
The first set of bricks and pavers was installed at Harriton in September 2010, in Harriton's Legacy Plaza (to the right of the new school entrance). In Fall 2011, bricks were installed at Lower Merion High School's Legacy Walk (between the new main entrance to the high school and the historic District Administration Building), and a second installation was made at Harriton.

The next installation is slated for SPRING 2013. If you haven't already, be sure to reserve your brick or paver!
Bricks are available for a $100 donation; they are 4" x 8" and hold three lines of text. Pavers, a $250 donation, are 8" x 8" and hold six lines of text.
 | | LMHS Legacy Walk | Bricks and pavers are a great way to commemorate a graduation, reunion, or event, or to honor a teacher, a parent, a child, or a friend. Order forms can be downloaded here, and are also available at the high schools or on the Education Foundation website.

Thank You, Sarah Bakes!
The Education Foundation has long been grateful for the tasty donations that Sarah Altman, the baking whiz behind local company Sarah Bakes, has made to our fall fundraisers. This year, we have an additional reason to be grateful. Sarah Bakes recently sponsored the Education Foundation of Lower Merion's participation in Constant Contact's "Cares 4 Kids" program, which allows us to use Constant Contact products at no cost--a savings for EFLM of nearly $700 annually. If you see Sarah at the Farmers' Market or order some of her delicious goodies online, be sure to thank her for us! You can keep track of Sarah Bakes' seasonal offerings by Liking the Sarah Bakes Facebook Page, or subscribing to her occasional newsletter at www.sarahbakes.com. |

The mission of the Education Foundation of Lower Merion is to provide a vehicle for the entire community's voluntary support of programs and activities enhancing the educational experience of all students, consistent with the mission of the Lower Merion School District.
The EFLM is a nonprofit organization formally recognized by the Lower Merion School District.
