pera announced that two of the outstanding artists that will be featured in the 2014 Season -- and two of the Bay Area's most in-demand -- will heat up the night at the Holiday Gala on Wednesday, December 4, at the Lafayette Park Hotel in Lafayette, California.
Soprano Marie Plette and baritone Eugene Brancoveanu will present some favorite arias along with songs of the holiday season.
Festival Opera's 2014 production of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer's poignant Another Sunrise will feature Marie Plette in the role of Krystyna Zywulska. Eugene Brancoveanu will sing the title role of the Emperor in the long-awaited The Emperor of Atlantis. The productions will be staged together for a powerful evening of opera in April 2014.
You can enjoy these outstanding artists in a more festive mood at the upcoming Holiday Gala. Reserve your seat or table now, and join the fun on December 4.

Seeding the Next Season
With Your Help, Art Happens

Many supporters of the arts are beginning to turn their attention toward year-end tax planning, including wrapping up their charitable giving for the year.
In this spirit, we'd like to offer a reminder that donations to Festival Opera -- a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation -- are tax-deductible to the full extent the law allows. And, once again, we need your help. Producing quality live opera like our 2013 production of Otello remains an expensive proposition, and even with careful management ticket sales cover only a fraction of the cost. For the rest, we rely on contributions, primarily from families and individuals, and on fundraising events like the upcoming Holiday Gala.
If you can't make it to the gala, or even if you can, please consider a gift to Festival Opera in time for this year's tax deadline. You'll have both the satisfaction of knowing that you're supporting superlative live opera in the East Bay, and our lasting gratitude as well.
There are two ways to donate. Online, donations can be made quickly and securely through PayPal: follow this link to DONATE NOW.

Mark your calendar now for Wednesday evening, December 4, 2013 at the Lafayette Park Hotel in Lafayette. The Festival Opera Holiday Gala is traditionally our largest get-together of the year, featuring no-host cocktails, an elegant sit-down dinner with wine, live entertainment featuring guest artists, live and silent auctions, and valet parking. It's a party you won't want to miss.
This year, we honor Diane Mauch, the President of the Rossmoor Opera and Ballet Club, for her immeasurable support of Festival Opera and as an advocate for the arts in our community.
Tables are available to show your support as a group. Price is $125 per person. Room capacity is limited, and previous galas have sold out quickly, so be sure to get your reservations in now. Look forward to seeing you there!
