About Face -- an opera experience
Classic & Contemporary Opera Meet
 | | Heidi Moss |
Sometimes asking the right questions is the point. Festival Opera is excited to bring a new opera experience to audiences with About Face - an opera experience. Exciting artists Heidi Moss, Eugene Brancoveanu and Jorge Garza sing in the production, a new opera pastiche that asks: what does it mean to be judged by appearances? What is the impact of compassion and acceptance -- especially self-acceptance? The production features characters from opera and history such as Rigoletto (from Verdi's opera of the same name), Violetta from Verdi's La Traviata, and Joseph Merrick (the "Elephant Man") from a new opera in development called, "Mister Merrick." Composer Henry Mollicone conducts and plays piano in his work, "The Face on the Barroom Floor" in the second act, and composer Kurt Erickson conducts and plays in act one.
