Push Your Customers Toward More Sales

Before you lay a hand on anyone, wait! We're talking about push marketing, as in how you reach out to mobile users.

Did you know you can send highly-relevant, perfectly-targeted messages out to your customers right at the moment they're most likely to make a purchase they hadn't even planned on making? Oh, and did you know that at least 18% of your customers, according to Forrester Research, actually expect you to send messages now and then to them on their mobile devices? Of course, this means having an app to engage with your customers in the first place!

Here are a handful of ways you can use push notifications to connect with your customers, bring them in for more of what you're offering, and nudge them to share you with their friends.

1. Use Curiosity to Nudge Engagement.

You could use an irresistibly enticing question to pique your customers' curiosity enough to get them to take a moment to follow your call to action. Use a great question to get folks to read a recent blog post, check out a special offer or event, or even to interact on social media.

2. Use Hashtags to Create (Good) Hoopla.

Ask your audience to tweet a hashtag you're pushing. You can even create the tweet for them, to make it even easier for them to spread the word. Think about how Jimmy Fallon's Wednesday night hashtag game goes - and see how you can follow the same sort of brilliance to make promoting your business fun for your customers.

3. Hold a Special - Right.... NOW!

They call this a flash sale. It's a limited time only sort of offer that will give your customers a reward for taking FAST action. They get a deal, you get more sales. Be sure to include an expiration date or time and a super-clear call to action.

4. Nurture Leads by Dripping on Them.

If you're the expert - and you probably are - why not share a series of tips that give value to your customers while also boosting their engagement with you. Be sure to let folks who opt into your series know how many messages to expect - otherwise you run the risk of making them wonder if they've stumbled into the nefarious Cat Facts Prank (Google it.).

5. Make Doing Business a Lay-up.

Running a special event? Have a sale going on? Have a booth at a live event? Spell out the details so your users know what they need to know to show up... in a single screen's worth of information. Nothing's worse than trying to find an event (or what time and date it's running) that's been put on by people who assume everyone knows when and where it is. Make it easy! Include a click to call button, a button they can click for directions, and how they can find you on social media as well.

When your customers show enough interest to register for your app or your mobile marketing program, they're saying they truly WANT to hear from you! Don't' let them down; and don't let the opportunity pass.

 Using YouTube
If not, you're going to be eager to get started ASAP after you check out these two facts.
  1. As of spring 2015, U.S. users had increased their viewing time by 17% over 2014 (according to eMarketer). Will the increase ever stop? Not anytime soon!
  2. 75.5% of viewers in the 18-35 demographic follow brands on YouTube (according to a study by Google & Pixability). This means YouTube is a MUST for any business trying to reach Millenials, an up and coming generation of spenders.
Tons of viewers, tons of branding opportunities, and tons of ways you can put your content into video format to reach your ideal target market. What are you waiting for?

The Boss Who's Always Hiring

As the boss, you of all people know what a pain in the neck (and the bank account) it is to have to hire new team members. Even worse is when you have to do it again and again. Worse still is when you figure out that YOU are the reason you can't keep good employees. Don't be 'that' boss.

Here are the top reasons your best employees may be headed for the door.

You're Overworking Them

Not only is it counterproductive, it's a good way to make your hard-working team feel like they're being penalized for having been hardworking from the start. Don't dump more work (without more pay and perks) on your team, unless you want them to go elsewhere to avoid being worked to the bone.

You Skip the Attaboy

Even employees who are self-motivated self-starters like to hear you sing their praises. Of course, praise does not take the place of pay... but recognition can do wonders for retention.

You're Kind of a Robot

While it's understandable to keep your professional face on, don't hide behind it and refuse to let your employees know you as a person. It can be a balancing act, but you've got to demonstrate that you care, or they'll go where they feel like they're treated like human beings.

You Don't Keep Your Word

Ouch. Ever find yourself making promises to your team that you don't really intend to keep? When you erode your employees' trust in you, you give them a great reason to jump ship and find an employer they can trust.

You Micromanage

Whatever the reason, if you can't let go of some control, you're going to find yourself doing ALL the work yourself. By giving your team the freedom to do their jobs however they see fit - as long as they're getting results - you ensure you get their best.

You've got it in you to be the best boss your team members have ever had. When you get better, so do they! You've got this.
