|This year has given me the opportunity to travel in both new and familiar places. I returned to Iran, leading a delegation of international CEOs through YPO-WPO. A series of articles discussing entrepreneurship and a more nuanced perspective on the country, including one published in the Washington Post, came out of the trip. I recently walked the 96-mile West Highland Way in Scotland on the eve of their vote on independence/devolution (dependent on your perspective) and published a photo essay in the Huffington Post through the lens of kNOw THEM. I trekked in the Kingdom of Mustang in Nepal, where Tibetan Buddhism thrives, unlike in today's Tibet under China. New and updated galleries posted on dicksimon.com include Iran, Mustang-Nepal, and Sri Lanka and even more images have been uploaded to Flickr. I hope to have images from my recent travels to Argentina, Canada, Sweden and Uruguay posted soon.
I have been busy spreading the message of kNOw THEM through keynotes, public presentations and exhibitions. I shared my work at Public Conversations; Houston Club as a part of Fotofest; Sustained Dialogue Campus Network's inaugural PULSE Institute; Tufts University; Family Office Association; Amherst, Bedford, Framingham and Newton Libraries; as well as various YPO groups. kNOw THEM also continues to flourish on social media; stay connected on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.
Beginning this fall kNOw THEM is sponsoring the Tufts University Institute for Global Leadership Program on Narrative and Documentary Practices' kNOw THEM Speaker Series, bringing top journalists and photographers to campus to broaden students' perspectives on the complexities in geopolitical affairs. I will be participating in RiseUp Cairo, photographing the Pushkar Camel Fair in India, meeting with social enterprises and entrepreneurs in Kolkata and Bangladesh and learning more about Buddhist culture in Bhutan. Any introductions or suggestions related to these projects would be appreciated.
