Greetings from Assisted Living Locators!

 

We hope you have been keeping warm and dry these past few weeks. During the recent cold spell, the Assisted Living Locators advisors went on a field trip and saw the Academy award-winning movie - Still Alice. We were all moved by this authentic depiction of how Alzheimer's affects the person and the people who love them. It is worth seeing.

 

Over the past several newsletters each of our advisors has written an article about their personal experiences or an educational piece related to eldercare. This month our advisor, Pat Godfrey, writes about her work at Assisted Living Locators. It is very special and rewarding for us to hear her positive experience and through this article we hope that you will get to know our team and how we work a little better.

 

Our second article comes from Miles Hurley. We hope you enjoy his piece on speaking to your parents about their financial matters.  He offers credible insight and helpful tips for anyone facing this dilemma.

I am now starting my fourth year of "semi retirement" with Assisted Living Locators and I love working with Maria and Susan,   I enjoy the flexibility and the opportunity to take time to travel to far away places.  It has also opened up new possibilities to assist people I couldn't help when working in an assisted living community.  I heard so many stories and thought I had "heard it all".  Rarely did we receive calls from the homeless and desperate who had no one else to turn to.

 

 
 

 

Approaching Your Parents Regarding Financial Matters

Talking to your parents about money is always difficult, especially when the money you're talking about is theirs. 

It may be the most difficult conversation you'll ever face: asking your aging parents if they need help managing their finances. They belong to a generation that was taught to keep their information private and not to share their concerns openly.
