Where's My Federal Tax Refund?
Refunds are generally issued within 21 days after the IRS receives your tax return.

After you have returned your e-file forms to Smith, Sullivan and Brown and received the automatic email stating that your return has been accepted, you can check the status of your return online within 24 hours, or if you paper filed your return, 4 weeks after mailing your paper return.

blue square Click on box three on the website "Where's My Refund"

You will need to have on hand:
  •     Your Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number
  •     Your Filing Status
  •     The Exact Refund Amount
  •     Enter your Social Security Number, Filing Status and Refund amount, then hit submit
  •     The IRS will list the status of your refund
  •     Keep in mind the IRS only updates the status once a day.

If you encounter any difficulties with this process, please contact us.

Taxpayer Identity Theft
What do you do when your tax return is rejected because someone other than yourself has filed taxes using your social security number?
Unfortunately this is becoming a more frequent issue due to all of the breaches from stores, hospitals and health insurance companies.

Our accounting team has extensive experience. We understand your frustration when you tell us that you've paid top dollar for accounting services-only to learn that there's a junior-level person working on your engagement. Or, that it's mid-March and your accountant isn't returning emails or phone calls because your files have been put on the back burner so that they can focus on the tax return crunch. At Smith, Sullivan & Brown, PC we only send senior-level accountants into the field and they remain accessible to you throughout the year. A dedicated team is assigned year-round specifically to our nonprofit clients, so that deadlines are met on time and your questions are never ignored.

Established in 1993, Smith, Sullivan & Brown, PC is for you if you value communication, one-on-one attention, and "hands-on" expertise from experienced senior-level accountants.
