Helping you to realize your garden visions for over a decade.
Dear (Contact First Name),

After being in business for over 10 years, we've come to have an awful lot of plants. Over time, some of them haven't gotten quite as much TLC as we might like, and still others have been the last one or two of their kind here at the nursery.  With this in mind, we decided that the best way to get these plants into the hands of those who can love them back to their full splendor is to have our second ever sale which we half-jokingly are calling The Sad Little (and BIG) Plant Sale.  Initially, we were only going to have a one-day sale, but decided at the last minute (based on both the enthusiastic response and our limited parking) to extend it for a week!

The sale will start on Saturday, September 24th, 2011 and runs through Saturday, October 1st, 2011. We will be pulling items from all over the nursery, both big and small, and pricing them to sell.  As a bonus, if you print out the COUPON at the bottom of this newsletter and bring it with you, you'll get 10% off all other non-sale items (including statuary) that you buy!  As always, payment by cash or check will get you in and out faster, though we do take Visa, MasterCard, Amex, and Discover as well.

Come early and remember to wear your boots (we make a lot of mud here) and bring something to set your purchases on in your car. Delivery service is available if needed. We'll look forward to seeing you here at OGS!

Cheers,

Al Pfeiffer, Owner

                                    Fall is for Planting!

We are often asked if it's ok to plant in the Fall.  A resounding YES is our answer.  Often with the arrival of cooler Fall days comes more moisture; both are ideal for helping establish a new planting.  The plants still have several months to put on new roots in your soil and get ready for the Winter.  If you're considering transplanting in the Fall you should be aware that many plants do not like to be moved in the Fall.  Beech, birch, some maples, most oaks, cherries, plums, and apples, to name a few carry the risk of failure if transplanted in the Fall, but do fine if planted from containers or Spring dug stocks.  Do your research before moving that favorite plant!
