Family History and DNA and Southern California Genealogy Jamboree Attendees:
VOLUNTEER ROUND-UP - WE NEED YOU!
A large genealogical event simply can't happen without hundreds of volunteer hours. Other national conferences such as NGS and FGS draw volunteers from host location societies. However, Jamboree (and this year's Family History and DNA event) is produced by one single genealogical society -- the Southern California Genealogical Society.
Frankly, we need more help, and we are reaching out to you.
During the weekend of May 17, members of SCGS Board of Directors and the Jamboree Committee will be calling to ask for your help at the Family History and DNA Conference on June 6 and at the Southern California Genealogy Jamboree June 7-9.
When we call, please answer the phone and give us your resounding, "Sure I'll help!!"
We won't even mind if you dodge our phone call. Just click on the sticky note, fill out our volunteer survey and tell us what you'd like to do. It will take just a few minutes. Oh, and if you want to volunteer as a room monitor, review the daily schedules to pick the classes of greatest interest to you. |

APG-SCC RESEARCH ASSISTANCE
Jean Wilcox Hibben, PhD, CG, and the good people at the Southern California Chapter of Association of Professional Genealogists are staffing one of the most popular activities at Jamboree. They are providing face-to-face to help you hurdle over the tallest brick walls. Or as Jean explained it:
Research Assistance is the place where people who know something about something can help people who don't know about that something, but need to.
A research consultant doesn't have to be an expert or have any letters after his/her name; it's simply someone who has the knowledge another needs.
It can even be "can help with getting started" or "know Family Tree Maker." People need all sorts of help.
Can you offer 30 minutes of your time to assist someone who doesn't know what you do? Please sign up at http://sccapg.org/jamboree.php.
Questions or concerns? Contact <jean@circlemending.org>
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
