RE- REGISTER NOW FOR 2016 GIRL SCOUT YEAR
It's time for a new Girl Scout year-yes! Make sure to reach out to every fabulous girl in your troop to help them register and get ready to go for another year of Girl Scout FUN. Registering now will help get everyone organized and all set for adventures ahead!
And in case your troop isn't quite sure about coming back for more awesomeness, here are some easy, fun tips to remind everyone what Girl Scouts is all about.
- Bring up a great memory. Was there one adventure she was particularly thrilled about? Did she overcome a fear with her troop by her side? Did she learn a cool new skill? Remind her how many more amazing memories-in-the-making await her in the coming year!
- Let her know how much she'll be missed by all of her troop members who have already re-registered, and by you!
- Remind her about all the fun stuff she can be a part of: art, science, exploring the outdoors, sports, and other cool activities offered in your area.
- You might even send her a fun postcard with a troop photo to remind her of all the fun and friendship that's waiting.
Good luck, and as always, thank you for all the amazing things you do for girls every day. We can't wait for your troop to sign back up for another year of FUN!
Questions? Contact your Membership Manager or local Service Unit! We're here to support you.

VOLUNTEER AT CAMP ARNAZ - UNITED WAY DAY OF CARING 10/3/15
Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 3. We will be participating in the annual Day of Caring sponsored by the United Way of Ventura County, and our very own Camp Arnaz will be one of the work sites. We will be working to restore the apple orchard and surrounding environs, including projects in landscaping and painting. Watch the GSCCC Events Calendar, and participate as an individual or a troop!
CREATING CAMP ARTEMIS SOUTH - Volunteers Needed! Camp Artemis and Artemis Leadership Training Adventure (ALTA) are the two parts of an exciting and innovative outdoor leadership program of Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast. Camp Artemis is a week-long outdoor resident camp that takes place in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains in Northern California every summer. Campers are girls entering into grades 5-12. The program is based on leadership development in an outdoor setting with backpacking, sleeping in your own personal tent, archery, swimming, leadership skill building and making new friends. The uniqueness of Camp Artemis is that it is planned, implemented, and directed by girls.
Due to the demand, GSCCC is interested in establishing a second Camp Artemis in the southern part of our council by 2017. We cannot do this without dedicated adult volunteers. If you are interested in becoming an adult volunteer for Camp Artemis South, please contact Melissa Baffa, VP of Program and Volunteer Services at mbaffa@girlscoutsccc.org or 805-232-3984. This is your chance to help us establish our premier sustainable leadership development program for girls, by girls, and have lots of fun! Please let us know as soon as possible, because the training pipeline begins right away!

CALLING UPON ALL GIRL SCOUTS YOUNG AND OLD As we approach the 100th year of the Gold Award, we are also celebrating Golden Eaglet Dr. Marilee Scaff's 100th birthday. We are asking Girl Scouts to send a card with a photo, preferably in uniform, a swap, and/or a friendship knot. Marilee earned her Golden Eaglet in 1932 and was awarded a scholarship by the Girl Scouts in 1933. She eventually got a PhD in educational psychology. This year she was named a California Woman of Distinction. (Note: The Golden Eaglet was the highest award a Girl Scout could earn at the time. It was the precurser of today's Gold Award.)
The cards will be delivered to her in November.
Please send a card to: Dr. Marilee Scaff, Golden Eaglet c/o Christie Crahan 3105 Sparr Blvd. Glendale, CA 91208
