Photo of the Month: May 2014
We installed 22.5 kilowatts for Garnett Farms in Hopkinsville, Kentucky last summer, and the farm received a 25% USDA REAP grant for their system. USDA's next application deadline is July 7. See article below. |
Still Time to Get in Green Power Providers!
TVA Green Power Providers pays a premium for 100% of solar electricity. It is one of the best solar programs in the country, but it will soon be oversubscribed and unavailable until next year.
For commercial projects, 100% of capacity is already reserved but there is still room on the 30% wait list.
About 400 kW of the allotted 4,000 kW of residential capacity is still available, and TVA will maintain a 30% wait list.
Once wait lists are full, the program will close for the rest of the year. Now is the time to get in!
Contact us today if you are interested in building a solar project in 2014! Time and program capacity is limited!

USDA Solar Grant Deadline July 7
USDA just announced the application deadline for the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grants. The grants cover up to 25% of the cost of a solar installation for agricultural producers and small rural businesses. The application deadline for the first round of funding is July 7, 2014!
"We anticipate funding levels under REAP for 2014 to be at or higher than last year, so applications have a stronger chance of receiving awards than previous years," says Will Dodson, Energy Director at USDA, Rural Development in Tennessee.
Contact us for details, and let us get started with your solar project and grant application. We take care of grant paperwork!

LightWave Solar Earns Gold in Mayor Karl Dean's Green Workplace Challenge
LightWave Solar took the Green Workplace Challenge and achieved Gold recognition, up from last year's Silver. Judging was based on the following categories: - Energy: We recently added a solar awning to our existing system for 20 kilowatts total which generates about $6,000 per year, and we replaced 81 T-12 light fixtures with T-8 fixtures which will save us $1,880 annually.
- Waste & Consumption: We have single-stream recycling, recycle electrical wire, buy 100% recycled paper products, avoid use of disposable cups, plates, etc.
- Transportation: We have two EV charging stations and provide fast, free car charging for guests and employees.
- Environmental Community Support: We donate to organizations such as Tennessee Environmental Council and Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation.

Monthly Feature: Where Solar Goes
 | Our friend and customer Bruce Clark recently moved to Ireland and installed 20 solar panels at his home on the coast. Micropower of Ireland built the system. We thought this photo was beautiful and worth sharing. It inspired our new feature, Where Solar Goes. |
Send us your photos of solar in unusual places and we will post them here! Email to info@lightwavesolar.com.
