We recently cleaned the solar panels of this 50 kW system at Rx Med Pharmacy in Lebanon, TN. They participate in our PV Check-up plan. Solar maintenance can improve system performance by 10-20%. |
TVA Solar Program Update
There is still time to get in the 2014 solar programs!
This year's TVA Green Power Providers program allows 4 MW of residential solar projects and 6 MW of commercial solar projects.
As of Feb. 24th, 1.36 MW of residential capacity is still available. TVA will maintain a 30% wait list as projects in the reserved capacity drop out.
For commercial projects, 100% of capacity is already reserved and only a portion of the wait list is available.
Once 30% wait lists are full, the program will close for the rest of the year. Now is the time to get in!
TVA is also accepting applications under Solar Solutions Initiative for projects 50kW-1MW. Approvals will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. TVA website shows program is 75% subscribed.
Contact us today if you are interested in building a solar project in 2014! Time and program capacity is limited!

Solar Year-in-Review
GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) have released the 2013 Year-in-Review U.S. Solar Market Insight report.
Key findings from report:
- There are now over 13,000 MW of cumulative solar electric capacity operating in the U.S., enough to power more than 2.2 million average American homes.
- There were 140,000 new solar installations in the U.S. during 2013, bringing the total to over 445,000 PV systems operating today.
- The U.S. installed 4,751 MW of solar PV in 2013, up 41% over 2012 and nearly 15 times the amount installed in 2008.
- More solar has been installed in the last 18 months in the U.S. than in the 30 years prior.
- Solar accounted for 29% of all new electricity generation capacity in 2013, up from 10% in 2012. This made solar the second-largest source of new generating capacity behind natural gas.
- Solar accounted for 92% of new electric generation in Tennessee in 2013.
- Year-over-year, the national average PV installed system price declined by 15%.
- The average price of a solar panel has declined by 60 percent since the beginning of 2011.
