The State of Georgia has named Heritage High School as an Advanced Placement (AP) Honor School for the fourth year in a row!

Advanced Placement courses are college courses that are offered to high school students. Students have the option of taking an AP exam at the end of the course to earn college credit while still in high school.

HHS was recognized as an AP STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Achievement School based on student success on AP math and AP science exams and as an AP STEM School for offering at least 2 AP math courses and 2 AP Science courses.

"Georgia's students continue to outperform most of their peers throughout the country on Advanced Placement exams," said State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge. "These results show that Georgia's students can compete against any students in the nation. Just as SAT results get everyone's attention, I think the performance of our students on Advanced Placement exams deserves the same attention."

Governor Nathan Deal added, "The continued high scores of all Georgia students on AP exams are certainly cause for celebration. Advanced Placement courses help students develop college-level academic skills, and passing scores on those exams help students earn college credit for the knowledge they've gained. Georgia's improvement on the percentage of seniors earning a three or better on AP exams represents a good deal - for our students and our state."

"I'm very proud of our students and teachers for earning this designation. To receive this recognition takes serious high school students who are willing to step up and challenge themselves with college level content along with dedicated, professional faculty members who are willing to attend AP training in the summer along with putting forth the extra effort it takes to teach a college level course." - Ronnie Bradford, Principal, Heritage High School

The Heritage High School teachers who teach AP classes in the STEM courses are Terri Bicknell - AP Biology, Jack Leather - AP Chemistry, Jason Scott - AP Physics, Loraine Young - AP Calculus, and Dr. Kendal Shipley - AP Statistics.
