Can you believe that Spring is here! It’s been a great year for dancing already. We feel so fortunate to have had an incredibly successful Showcase in January. Please feel free to take a look at some of the highlights from our SCD TV Showcase on our website. We have already begun work on our next Showcase, In Dreams, choreographed by Tomas Lewandowski. Tomas will be in the studio hard at work over the next several months putting together these unique performances. Nor is it too late for you to get involved with this fabulous show, scheduled for July 20th, 2013. Call us at the studio if you’d like to jump in and put your dream on stage!

We are very excited about our next major studio event: the So Cal Dancesport Invitational!  This semi-annual mini-dance competition brings together several Southern California dance studios and provides an environment for students to dance in front of an actual judge during a laid back day of friendly inter-studio rivalry.  In 2012, we held the inaugural So Cal Dancesport Invitational, themed “Polos & Pearls.”  It was a great day with judge Tony Meredith joining South Coast Dancesport and Havin’ a Ball Dance Studio.  On April 20th, I hope you will plan to join South Coast and Vivo Dancesport as we plan on “A Day in the Islands” at Vivo’s brand new studio location in Hacienda Heights featuring judge Kasia Kozac.  Come dance, or come cheer, but come ready to have a great time!

You may have noticed a few new faces around the studio.  Click on over to the studio’s About Us page and read up on our new instructors Alex Matar and Emily England as well as our new morning receptionist, Heather Maddigan.  We feel very fortunate to have added these professionals to the South Coast Dancesport team.

Our next Practice Party is only a week away, on April 12th!  This will be a very special Party as we plan on highlighting the numerous special talents that call South Coast Dancesport their home.  We’re calling this April party our Spring Fling!  We will have special performances from Los Sonadores—a children’s cultural Flamenco group that practices here at the studio 2 days a week—in addition to a special Persian dancing exhibition from Ava’s Dance Studio, based out of South Coast on Saturdays.  We are looking forward to watching Ruta Maria and Marcos Questas, our resident Tango Maestros, put on display their incredible skills.  Additionally, we will have amateur students dancing with their teachers in the following week’s So Cal Dancesport Invitational.  And, finally, our resident professional instructors Emily England and Tyler-Ryan Allen will take to the floor to dance American Smooth for us, as well as a special performance from Philip Gott and Katya Marshukova-Gross.  There is SO much happening at South Coast Dancesport—and we want you to be able to appreciate all of it.
