Notes from the Studio

As a child I loved the Christmas season.  It seemed to go on forever with decorations and lights and snow and family visits and treats and gifts. 

 

As an adult, working to make the magic happen sometimes takes priority over our own enjoyment. Allow yourself time to relax and enjoy the season.  Have coffee with a friend, make a special recipe, put carols on while decorating the tree. 

  

I wish you the very best of the holiday season and much joy in simple, unexpected pleasures.  Let your heart lead the way, and  spread joy whenever possible!

One of the reasons I wanted to be juried in to the National Association of Women artists was while my subject and focus of my work is local, I wanted to see how my work would fare on a larger stage. 
  
The organization has group shows in New York city and surrounding states, and the Florida chapter is very active. I send paintings (at my own expense) to as many of these shows as I can.
  
I was honored to learn that Dawning earned an honorable mention in the NAWA-FL show Image Makers."

Snowman #19, 2012

 

The Snowman Extravaganza was lots of fun with hot spiced wine and cookies for all.  Folks enjoyed determining which Snowman they wanted to adopt.  Each one was unique, and the traditional seemed to have the edge on the funkier this year.  It's great fun for me to do something so different from my Everglades paintings, so I will probably do it again next year. 

 

Wishing you peace and love for the holidays, and a joyous new year.
