Dan Ashley
In his thirty years on television, Dan Ashley has reported on a wide-range of issues and events that affect our lives. As a journalist, Dan has covered stories from the San Francisco bay area, the country and the world. Dan has reported from Poland on the "March of the Living" with bay area holocaust survivors, to many emerging headline stories from Peru, Mexico and other remote locations. Political assignments have included reporting live from New Hampshire and South Carolina for the state primaries and from Iowa for the state's caucus. Most recently he interviewed 2016 Presidential candidate Ben Carson during his bay area visit.

A passionate speaker, Dan has given numerous presentations, notably:

He receives high praise and industry awards, including the prestigious DuPont Columbia Award and the Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in journalism as well as numerous Emmy Awards for Best Newscast and Individual Reporting.

Dan's distinguished work is also recognized by many industry organizations, including Associated Press, United Press International, and the Press Club of Atlantic City. He has also received awards from the New Jersey and Atlanta chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. 

An active member of the community, Dan serves on the boards of directors of many worthy organizations including The Commonwealth Club of California, The Bay Area Red Cross, The California Symphony, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), The Contra Costa County Crisis Center, The First Tee, and Music in Schools Today. He hosts the annual "Dan Ashley's Friends of Camp Concord "
 Golf Tournament which raises money to send under-served youngsters to summer camp. Additionally he created, founded and hosts an annual concert. The non-profit "Rock the CASA Foundation" raises money through a headline concert fundraiser event in the bay area for the children and the camp.

KGO-TV/ABC-7 News Anchor Dan Ashley offers a unique perspective on the news events  of the day through his on-air and newspaper commentary called "What Really Matters".  "What Really Matters" explores topics that range from the serious to the light-hearted while looking for common threads that unite us and tap into common experiences and shared emotions and sensibilities. "What Really Matters" focuses on specific events in our lives and seeks out the big picture, the lessons to be learned, the values to be gleaned.
