JUNE 1, 2012
GOLDEN GATE PARK, SF
JUNE 1ST: NAMI WALK SAN FRANCISCO
Opening Ceremony Speaker is Kevin Hines...
This year's opening ceremony speaker is Kevin Hines who jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge in a suicide attempt in September of 2000 and survived.
Kevin now spreads the message that "Life is a Gift." Kevin advocates for mental health and is the author of the forthcoming memoir  Cracked, Not Broken. In 2012, Hines was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding work as a suicide prevention advocate and speaker.

With a 21.2% reduction to the State of California mental health services budget from 2009 to 2012, this walk will raise funds to support its free services in a time when it's more important than ever.
Interview opportunities with Kevin are available by arrangement during National Health Month in May and at the NAMIWalk June 1st between 9:30 am - 11:30 am.

Cracked, Not Broken:

"A gripping memoir which recounts the inspiring story of a suicide survivor and one of the leading mental health advocates of our time. A must-read for anyone who's ever wanted to know about living with mental illness."

--Linda Rosenberg, MSW, President /CEO, National Council for Behavioral Health/Washington D.C.
