Lidya

Lidya Gulizia Joins YORK as
Director of Project Management

Lidya provides immediate and comprehensive client service support in her newly created role as Director of Project Management.

For the last decade Lidya Gulizia has worked as a senior project manager
for one of the largest laboratory networks in the U.S. with responsibility for large chemical manufacturers and federal defense contractors.

Previous to YORK, Lidya also held responsibilities
as Data Validation Manager with Geraghty & Miller in New Jersey and as Quality Assurance Officer at a California-based analytical laboratory. She started her career on the bench as an extractions chemist and GC analyst.

Lidya's extensive knowledge of analytical methods, regulatory requirements and data validation protocols provides tremendous depth to YORK's existing team of senior client service professionals.

For all Scarlet Knights fans, Lidya is a graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in biology...and a big football fan.

You can reach out to Lidya direct via email or ask for her the next time you call the lab.

Note: Clients using "clientservices@yorklab.com" will also reach Lidya with questions or requests.

The Tappan Zee Bridge first opened in 1955

York Analytical Laboratories is proud to be associated with the construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

Over the last three decades, YORK has provided sample analyses for engineering teams at many
landmark transportation projects in the New York Metropolitan Area.

Below is a short and interesting promotional film from the New York State Thruway Authority that celebrates the original opening of the Tappan Zee Bridge, then "the largest bridge of its type in the world," and touts the engineering feats that were required to accomplish its construction.

which details the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

YORK ADDS STATE-OF-THE-ART MERCURY ANALYZER

merc1

YORK has recently acquired a new Direct Mercury Analyzer from Milestone (
website) which provides very low detection limits and increased data quality control features.

The rapid analysis time (less than 10 minutes per sample) dramatically improves YORK's ability to service client needs.  The system enables the operator to analyze for mercury in virtually any sample matrix: liquids (water, wastewater, leachates, digestates, oils, organic liquids), solids, and gases.

YORK can now report aqueous samples down to 0.05 to 0.2 ug/L or soils/solids down to 0.05 mg/kg.  Currently YORK has achieved certification for this technology by NELAC (NY) and Connecticut.  The EPA method is described in EPA SW864 method 7473.

Dave Marrero and YORK's Client Service Initiative

After joining YORK to help service an intensive remedial project near the Canadian border that required immediate results turnaround on a large number of soil samples, Dave Marreo is using his mobile communications and logistical expertise to advance daily sample receiving operations.

Dave recorded a short video below from YORK's client service office in New Jersey as an introduction.

STAY TUNED:
A newly revamped ClientConnect web portal and smartphone applications are already in the works and will roll out to clients this fall.

TIP OF THE YEAR:

USE 5035 VIAL SET-UPS
INSTEAD OF ENCORE CONTAINERS

As regulations regarding volatile sample containers get more stringent and levels of detection continue to decrease, YORK strongly recommends using a 5035 vial kit instead of Encore samplers.  The 5035 kits prepared by YORK are:

vial;s
1. Cost effective  ($15 vs $30)

2. Reduce handling and lab contamination  (Vials are never opened and loaded direct on instruments.  See yellow capped vials below from our Volatiles laboratory.)

3. Increased holding time (14 days vs. 1 day)

Below is a short video from YORK's Rich August explaining these options...
