The Tappan Zee Bridge first opened in 1955
|
York Analytical Laboratories is proud to be associated with the construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
Over the last three decades, YORK has provided sample analyses for engineering teams at many
landmark transportation projects in the New York Metropolitan Area.
Below is a short and interesting promotional film from the New York State Thruway Authority that celebrates the original opening of the Tappan Zee Bridge, then "the largest bridge of its type in the world," and touts the engineering feats that were required to accomplish its construction.
In contrast, below is a current HD video distributed earlier this year which details the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

YORK ADDS STATE-OF-THE-ART MERCURY ANALYZER
YORK has recently acquired a new Direct Mercury Analyzer from Milestone (website) which provides very low detection limits and increased data quality control features.
The rapid analysis time (less than 10 minutes per sample) dramatically improves YORK's ability to service client needs. The system enables the operator to analyze for mercury in virtually any sample matrix: liquids (water, wastewater, leachates, digestates, oils, organic liquids), solids, and gases.
YORK can now report aqueous samples down to 0.05 to 0.2 ug/L or soils/solids down to 0.05 mg/kg. Currently YORK has achieved certification for this technology by NELAC (NY) and Connecticut. The EPA method is described in EPA SW864 method 7473.
