In his first year as President for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Capital Construction Company (MTACC), Dr. Michael Horodniceanu assumed control of five "mega projects" - the Fulton Street Transit Center, Second Avenue Subway, LIRR East-Side Access into a new terminal at Grand Central, the No. 7 Subway Extension, the new South Ferry Terminal Station which opened in March, as well as security-related construction projects for the MTA.
The projects total over $15 billion -- making them the most significant network expansion and infrastructure improvement program in decades. An in-depth interview with Dr. Horodniceanu was recently posted on LowerManhattan.info.

AIR TESTING EXPERT VISITS YORK LABS TO DISCUSS LATEST REGULATIONS AND MARKETPLACE DYNAMICS
John Deschenes, National Analytical Solutions Manager from Entech Instruments Inc., (pictured here with York's Managing Director Robert Q. Bradley) visited with key members of York's management team to provide a briefing on potential new regulations facing environmental air testing consultants and laboratories related to sampling tools and measures. Deschenes cited the disparity between current state and national required methods and capabilities of equipment in the marketplace as the biggest driver of new regulations that are starting to be formalized.
York provides analyses of vapor intrusion, soil vapor, ambient air and indoor air using TO-14, TO-15 and other related air-methods. If you are interested in talking with York about ways to maximize air testing in your remediation projects, please call Marty Rowan or Rich August.

DID YOU KNOW: YORK HAS CONDUCTED SAMPLE ANALYSIS FOR NYCDDC CONTRACTS EVERY YEAR SINCE 1994
York Analytical Laboratories, who is currently supporting three active New York City Design and Construction (NYCDDC) contracts (PW 349-42, PW 348-41 and PW 348-51), participated in the most recent NYCDDC meeting to discuss the upcoming city-wide tank remediation contract (PW 348-54).
We are very prideful of our continuous involvement in NYCDDC work since 1994. During this 15-year period, York has actively participated and completed significant lab analyses and "deliverables" for more than a dozen contracts.
For a complete list of contracts we have supported or to discuss our experience with NYCDDC projects, please contact Michael Beckerich. |

GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR LAB
One of the common issues our log-in team encounters when reviewing new samples that arrive at the lab is an inconsistancy between the identification on the sample itself with the identification of the sample listed on the chain of custody. When multiple tests are required or the sample is a composite of several sample groups our team must call the client project manager to clarify which samples are slated for specific analyses before they are scheduled for testing. This can unnessarily delay sample report turnaround time. Please reinforce with your field teams to clearly link the samples with the analysis specified on the chain. | |
