It's time for VBS Kidz Kamp!

St. John's is joining with First Presbyterian, Trinity, and St. Christopher parishes for a city-wide VBS Kidz Kamp to be held at St. John's three short days from now: Monday, 7/27 - Thursday, 7/30 from 6- 8:30pm.  Supper will be provided each night.  Activities for children will revolve around a water theme and adults will have nightly sessions on the creeds of Christianity.

We look forward to an amazing week together!  We need lots of volunteers, both teens and adults.  Contact Margaret Perkins to get involved!

Please assist us in our planning efforts--use this online form to register your child(ren) today!

Tonight is Christmas in July

It's not too late to bring your energy, smiles, and spiritual gifts to tonight's Christmas in July from 6-8:30pm.  Come bless and be blessed!   We will need those who are willing to serve, assist with gift distribution, and clean up.  See you tonight!

Miscellany

Christian Formation continues on its summer schedule for this week onlySummer Forum will meet this Sunday in Chisholm Hall for those 13 through adult.  The Good Shepherd & True Vine Atria will be open for those children (potty-trained, ages 3-12 years) who would like to continue their work.  Beginning August 1, there will be no Summer Forum or Atria as we finish the renovations on the second floor and get ready for the start of fall.  The Creation Atrium will be open from 10-11:30am this Sunday and 10:45-11:30am for the remainder of the summer for children not yet potty trained.

Your gift can help make history.  Won't you consider joining with those faithful parishioners, Vestry, and Endowment Committee who have pledged or contributed funds to bring the installation of our new organ to debt-free completion?  Please contact Fr. Derek or Senior Warden Margaret Perkins to make a cash gift or pledge (up to 36 months) to help with the extra costs incurred to install this incredible instrument in our historic worship space.

Congratulations to Fr. Derek who has been named a Centurion Award recipient by the Order of the Arrow, the honor society of the Boy Scouts of America.  This award is a one-time recognition associated with the centennial anniversary of the Order of the Arrow that is bestowed by the national Order of the Arrow committee.  Honorees serve as exemplars of leadership, modeling to others a commitment to cheerful service in their communities as the Order of the Arrow enters its second century.

Your funeral plan is not on file.  Four parishioners of St. John's now have a funeral plan on file in the parish office.  Summer is a great time to spend some time reflecting on the music and scripture readings you would like used at your funeral.  Print this form, fill it out, and bring it to the parish office where we can make a copy for you and keep the original on file.

Wednesday Eucharist will continue through the summer months.  This worship was especially created for those who were traveling over the summertime weekends so that all could still receive Christ's body and blood as strength for the journey.  This 30-minute Eucharist begins at 6:30pm and includes hymns, a brief homily, and healing prayers.

Miss on Sunday?  Come on Wednesday.

Have someone to honor, remember, or celebrate?  Flowers offered to the Glory of God
and for your special intention are needed on almost all Sunday mornings of the summer.  The sign-up sheet hangs on the bulletin board in Chisholm Hall closest to the London St. Parking Lot entrance.  The cost is $75 per Sunday (and can always be shared with someone else) and is due in the Parish Office two weeks before your requested Sunday.

St. John's eNews publishes twice a month in the summer.  Remaining summer issues will publish on 8/6 & 8/20.  Content deadline is the Tuesday before publication.  Weekly issues will resume on September 3.

Want a St. John's name badge?  Are you ready to look outward and be welcoming, greeting those you do not know before you greet your friends and offering hospitality to those you meet?  If your answer is "yes," then complete a name badge request form found in the worship space and Chisholm Hall.  These badges have a magnetic back. (which should be kept away from medical devices and credit/debit cards).

The Parishioner Corner of our Website has news you can use.  Here you can access the July 2015 Parish Directory, parish handbook, worship ministry schedules, and read approved minutes of vestry discussions and actions as well parish financial reports.  Need or don't remember the password?  Contact the parish office.
