Christmas in July, 7/25 from 6-9pm

Bring your energy, smiles, and spiritual gifts to Christmas in July for  one night of food, air conditioning, and fun for our homeless neighbors in need!

On Sunday, July 6, 13, & 20, we will be collecting the following new items in all adult sizes: men's and women's flip flops, men's boxer briefs, and ladies "cami" (camisole) tops as gifts to be given to our homeless guests on the night of July 25.

On Sunday, July 20 we will be collecting clean, gently used summer shorts and tops for a shopping opportunity for our guests.   Start looking through your closets.

Come bless and be blessed!  More details will be shared on how you can get involved each Sunday between now and the 25th.  Want to know more now?  Contact Nancy Johnson at 757-646-2647.

Beginner's Yoga @ St. John's

Want to try something new this summer?  How about a beginner's yoga class?

This free event will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7pm beginning this Wednesday, July 9.  Why not nourish your spirit at the 6:30pm Eucharist and then nourish your body with yoga at 7pm?  Classes will run each week from July 9-August 20 in Chisholm Hall.

Please bring a yoga mat, water, and a blanket (optional).

Classes are being offered by one of our newest sisters in Christ, Niki Park.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact her at 757.897.5986.

Miscellany

Prayer List Reset this week.  One of the challenges of maintaining prayer lists is that names can unnecessarily remain on them longer than needed.  Each quarter we "reset" our prayer list by removing all names and requesting parishioners to submit names to repopulate the list.  Please contact this link if you would like a name added to the new list we begin using this week for the 3rd quarter of the year.

Wednesday Eucharist will continue through the summer months.  This worship was especially created for those who were traveling over the summertime weekends so that all could still receive Christ's body and blood as strength for the journey.  This 30 minute Eucharist begins at 6:30pm and includes hymns, a brief homily, and healing prayers.  Miss on Sunday?  Come on Wednesday.

Given to God but rejected by the bank: coins placed in the offering plate last week from Sweden, Italy, and Canada.  Any foreign currency collectors out there?

St. John's eNews transitions to twice a month publication for the summer on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month.  Content deadline is the Tuesday before publication.  Weekly issues will resume on September 4.
