45 Hours and Counting!

Shelter week has shifted from 7pm-6am overnight sheltering to emergency 24-hour sheltering as a foot of snow dumped on Portsmouth and St. John's Church.  Continuous sheltering of the homeless began Tuesday at 1pm and will conclude on Friday morning.  Overnight 7pm-7am shelter operations will resume on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Shelter leaders Nancy Johnson and Claudia Tomlin continue to marvel at what a blessing it has been to have the time to build personal relationships with our homeless guests.  Check out pictures on our church's facebook page.  There is still time for you to help. Come on down!

2014 Women's Retreat

All  women of St. John's are invited to a special time of fellowship, encouragement and rest.  There is time to register for the AWE Retreat each Sunday in Chisholm Hall, until February 17, 2014. The cost of seminar and meals is $80.

Our speaker is Tracie Miles.  She is a member of the national speaker team with Proverbs 31 Ministries.  Her passion is to lead women closer to the heart of God, help them embrace their spiritual value and purpose and inspire them to live intentionally for Christ.  Tracie has been married to her husband, Michael, for 22 years.  They have three children and live in Charlotte, NC.  She graduated from the University of NC at Charlotte and worked in the corporate world for 15 years until God placed a call on her heart to focus on Christian speaking and writing.
