Intergenerational Sunday Forum

John Newton

Something new for adults and children is happening this August as St. John's hosts an Intergenerational Forum at 10:10am each Sunday in the Parish Hall.  Sister Heather Rollins will be exploring with us some classic and new hymn texts and melodies, with presentations that will appeal to all ages.

Bring your kids!  Bring your grandkids!   This Sunday's hymn will be Amazing Grace, written by John Newton.

Christmas in July 2013

51 homeless guests joined 83 Kidz Kamp (Vacation Bible School) participants and volunteers for a Christmas in July air conditioned summer picnic on 7/25.  Our Kidz Kamp participants decorated and gifted our guests with specially decorated sugar cookies and Santa arrived to present each homeless guest with neck coolers.  Kidz Kamp participants and volunteers also prepared 39 gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Thanks to Margaret Perkins, Nancy Johnson, Claudia Tomlin, Philip Goodrich, and all those who made our Christmas in July week such a success!

Blessing of the Backpacks, 8/25

The Blessing of the Backpacks will be on Sunday, August 25.  Please bring school supplies for those in need and place them on the back pews of the church the four Sundays in August.  All students, teachers, and school personnel-make sure to be in worship on the 25th to begin the new school year with some divine inspiration!

We need your recipes in the St. John's Cookbook

St John's Cookbook needs your help to get completed!  Let's try to finish this month, August!!  Currently 45 recipes have been submitted... we need a lot more recipes... we need 300-400 for a cookbook.  If everyone could enter/submit 5-10 recipes (or more) we should be able to make our goal.  I know there are many wonderful cooks at St John's.  Think about recipes you love to make and share with others.  To enter recipes online, see instructions here.    If you're not able to enter recipes online, please place a written copy of your recipe in the Crock Pot in the parish hall... someone on the cookbook committee will enter it for you.   Brenda Wolter
