GO InterNational coordinates short-term mission trips to locations throughout the world, but it's not because we're in the travel business. Our purpose is to help others fulfill The Great Commission. Spreading the word of Christ is our Number One priority.

 

But, a close second - perhaps a Number One A - is to bring relief and development to areas that often do not have even the basic necessities of life. There are places without the basics? Are you sitting down?

 

Less than two years ago, GO answered a special call to serve in Brisa Del Mar, Nicaragua. Most of the 55 families in this community did not have any kind of bathroom facilities. Simply stated, they had to use nearby fields. Sound shocking? Statistics show that one-third of the global population does not have access to toilets.

 

To date, we have provided funding for 85 latrines and have shown the families how to build their own. The units might seem a bit primitive for our culture. However, the toilets in Brisa and other locations have created better health and safety standards, as well as dignity for the residents.

 

Water safety was another quality of life issue GO helped address in Brisa. Most families, again, had little or no access to an adequate system. Our partner in Nicaragua asked for 30-liter water filtration units for individual families, and GO friends in Dayton, TN, funded and distributed 95 of these units in three communities.

 

Go teams encounter situations most of us take for granted. And, you can help provide relief and community development in truly destitute areas.

 

Our GOal this year is to fund another 100 latrines and another 100 water systems. For a $200 donation, you can provide one family with both a latrine and a water filtration system and significantly improve their health standards.
