A sacrificial gift

It's not something you plan.

And it's probably not something you'll think about that much.  But, now and then a sacrificial gift is given that makes a world of difference.

On a recent trip to Costa Rica, our GO team was doing street ministry, talking with men and women who were suffering and living on the street.  No one was anticipating a miracle.  Team members were huddled in small groups, talking to people on the street.  Maybe only one or two other people even noticed.  But it happened, and it changed a life.

Austin, a GO team member from Illinois, was talking with a young man whose feet were in bad condition because he didn't have any shoes. As he interacted with the homeless man, Austin simply removed his own shoes and gave them to the needy young man. It was a single quiet act of sacrificial love. Austin didn't have a lot of time or money to give the boy, but he gave what he had - his shoes. Few words were spoken between the two. It became a sacred moment that changed lives.

We know that's what mission trips can do, but we need your help.  This is our fiscal year end and we are asking our friends to help us with some of the immediate needs we have.

What shoes do you have to give? It may be a cash gift, a gift of stock or an asset you no longer need. Whatever the amount or value, it will be used to change lives and share the love of Christ!

Thank you!

P.S. Your gift this month is a sacrificial act of love. Thank you for "taking your shoes off" for us.
