I was asked to preach on missions at a local church this past Sunday. During the course of my message I made reference to Mark 14:9 where the woman poured out her alabaster box of perfume for Jesus.  I pointed out that Jesus called her sacrificial gift both a memorial to her and something that would be spoken of throughout the world.   After finishing my message during the second service, I went back to where to our display was set up and there was a envelope  on the table marked for GO with a note written on the back.  It read simply "please use the following gift in memory of my mother, she would have loved to help your mission ministry." 

 

I was blessed by the kindness of the woman who was moved during the sermon on missions and decided to give a gift in memory of her mother who had gone to be with the Lord.  Although the woman's mother had passed several years before, she wanted to take a moment to give a monetary gift to reflect the heart and passion of her loved one. What a great way to treasure the memory of our loved ones during this month when we celebrate Memorial Day. It is common for people to give memorial gifts at the time of a funeral, but it can also be a nice gesture to give a gift on a birthday or anniversary as well. Anytime we want to celebrate the life and legacy of those who have  impacted our lives and are now enjoying the promises of Heaven.

 

Each year we have family members and friends who give one or more gifts to the ministry in memory of a loved one or friend.  When we publish our GO InterNational Annual Ministry Report, we'll include the names of those remembered and the donor. 

 

Your memorial gifts  have continuing impact. Many lives have been touched both here and around the world because people like you have participated in the memorial ministry at GO.  Do you have a loved one or friend who touched your life and is no longer living? Would you like to do something special to remember them?  Please consider a gift this May to our memorial ministry. You can make your check to GO and mail it to address listed below. Please include a note giving us the name of the remembered as you would like it to appear in our annual report.  You can also give online at www.gointernational.org. Simply write in the name of the remembered in the designation space  and indicate it is a memorial gift.    

 

All memorial gifts given before June 30, 2014 will appear in this years edition of the Annual Ministry Report. It is a great way to keep those precious memories fresh and alive!
