Ministry in the Chuvash Republic

All eyes have been on Sochi, Russia for the Olympics these past few weeks. It was exciting to watch wasn't it? There is another exciting thing happening in Russia about a thousand miles north of Sochi in the Chuvash Republic of Russia. Our dear friend and ministry partner, Pastor Dennis Philipov is encouraging the church and training pastors to be more effective in the capital city, Cheboksary. Cheboksary is a major port on the Volga River.

Pastor Dennis is Ukrainian and has earned the trust of pastors across Russia, which is not an easy thing to do. Years of government spying, oppression and difficulty have made most people, even those in the church very suspicious of outsiders. Current Russian law subjects all churches and charities to very serious random surprise inspections and all offerings and monies are scrutinized and  activities are restricted. It is in this environment that Dennis goes to teach pastors to encourage their churches. He and his wife Natasha, also minister to children through their kid's camps in the summer. Many of the kids they take on a camping experience have never been outside of the city.

Dennis explains, "We are involved in preaching and teaching all over the Chuvash region, bringing the Light of the Word where it is needed-Bible seminars; Christian camps for young people, vacation bible school for young children and preaching in local churches and any other place we are welcomed. I dream to help young preachers to step in to bring the Gospel to Chuvash!" Please pray for Dennis and his family as they minister to the Chuvash people. Please consider supporting them as they seek to spread the good news of Jesus Christ in Russia.
