On the GO in the Sierra Tarahumara

Here is a report of our recent GO Christmas team to minister to a village in the Sierra Tarahumara.

We visited Gonogochi for the first time in the summer of 2003. We was not welcomed there. When we arrived, there was an abandoned building that was formerly a medical emergency station the Chihuahua government had built for political reasons, and later abandoned. The local people were not happy and felt they had been forgotten by the government.  An older told us lady she didn't want me or any other "chabochi" (strangers) on her land.

After several visits and ministry teams she received Christ in her heart and invited us to her home. Now we celebrate Christmas in the abandoned government building. It is also used as a school and small diner.

A young village girl at the time, Josefina, told us she did not want us there either, but today, she came asking for prayer because she was having a pain in her back and shoulder.  We asked her if she believed Jesus could heal her. She said yes. We asked if she would receive Him as her Lord and Savior, she also said YES! We prayed for her to receive healing and salvation.

There are now over eighty Tarahumara Indians in the village of Gonogochi that have received Christ!

Would you join GO InterNational in this continuing effort to reach the Tarahumara Indians with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There are hundreds more remote villages like Gonogochi that need to hear the saving message of Christ.

Our partner in Mexico, Jorge Ramirez, is committed to preaching Christ's love to this largely unreached people group. They also live with a great deal of poverty. There are many opportunities for you or your church to help. Will you join us in reaching this isolated and needy people group?

A gift toward this ministry will have a great impact in sharing the Gospel with Tarahumara!

Sincerely,

Ron Houp
