What would you do if the
Bible was too expensive to buy?

This is a question that I have never had to ponder.  I grew up in a Christian home and the scriptures were always within reach.  Many times I have taken this for granted. On a recent mission trip to Trinidad this question is a reality.

In March I had the privilege of participating on the Great Spring Break mission trip to Trinidad. I expected to see poverty and hopelessness, and there was some of that, but what surprised me was the hope I saw in the Trinidadian Christians. Most of these Christians have come to Christ from Hinduism or Islam. They express a real joy in there relationship to Jesus.

Bibles have to imported into Trinidad, causing them to be very expensive and out of reach to many of the poorer residents. When I

realized this, I think God pricked my heart, and caused me to see that He wants every one of His children to read His love letter. I wanted to help somehow. Trinidad was ruled by the British for many years, so their version preference is the King James Version. This is also the preference of my home church in Ohio.

When I explained to my church the situation, we decided to have a Bible drive and so far we have gathered 137 Bibles, with no plans of stopping. Doors have opened for me to return to Trinidad with another GO team to distribute the Bibles. I am so excited to be able to hand out these Bibles.

I challenge you to join with us at GO InterNational as we work to provide Bibles for those who don't have God's Word. We can generally buy a Bible in a native language for less than $5. Please help us!

As always, we thank you for your prayers and support and we look forward to joining what God is doing in Trinidad and around the world.

Sincerely,

Whitney Ward
