Camden County Chamber of Commerce

The upcoming election is on May 20th and the chamber encourages everyone to get out and vote. If you reside in St. Marys, you will find a referendum concerning redevelopment powers. The Camden Chamber Board in April voted unanimously in support of its passage
as it will provide an important tool for economic development and help make St. Marys more competitive with other Georgia cities. If you would like more information about redevelopment powers, please visit one of these three websites.
Help us make Camden strong! Vote Yes on the redevelopment powers referendum.

School will be out soon, which means our annual awards dinner (Gavel to Gavel) is right around the corner. This event is where we honor outstanding businesses and leaders. Currently we are excepting nominations until 5PM on May 8th for our three awards; Small Business, Large Business and Entrepreneurial Spirit. You can CLICK HERE for a nomination form
. Past recipients of these awards will meet on May 12th to select the winner who will be notified by May 14th and invited to attend the annual awards dinner on June 18th. In addition we will honor our Ambassador of the Year and our Chairman's Award recipient.

If you are feeling lucky, you should know we are holding our Anniversary Raffle again this year with the top prize of $2500, 2nd place is $1000 and 3rd place is $500. TIckets are $20 each and available at the chamber office or from any chamber board member. The drawing will be at the annual meeting on June 18th. This raffle helps fund our technology and building needs for a more efficient and professional organization, to represent Camden in the best possible manner.

Brochures and applications for Leadership Camden are now available, however the calendar shown is tentative, while we confirm locations and speaker details. Click here for more information. Two partial scholarships ($300 each) will be available and organizers will make their selection as they review all applications received. If your schedule does not allow you to get away one day per month for Leadership Camden, I strongly suggest attending Leadercast 2014. It is a day long event set for May 9th and it is a great way for you to invest in yourself. Last year was my first year and look forward to hearing this year's line up of speakers.

Work has also started on the Guide to Camden County. Last year the chamber partnered with the Tribune & Georgian and together we developed an a award winning guide that is used by the chamber, JDA, realtors, local government and more to help promote Camden. As a value added benefit, all members are listed in the yellow pages in the back and any member advertising in it, receive a  substantial discount.  CLICK HERE for details or call the chamber or the Tribune & Georgian for more details.

This spring is certainly busy but we are looking forward to our move to the North Center and appreciate the vision and generosity of the City of Kingsland for allowing us to co-locate there along with the JDA and Camden Partnership. Our anticipated move is the week of May 19th. I would also like to thank Kings Bay Village Shopping Center for their support over the many years that we have called it home.

Kind regards,

Leslie Hamrick
