Greetings!
It is a very busy and exciting time at the chamber these days, all in an effort to fulfill our mission: "promote business and build community". For those of you that have not heard the news, the chamber will be moving its office in May to the North Center on Highway 17, across from Dalton Signs. We will be co-locating there with the Camden County Joint Development Authority (per their vote on March 26). The Camden Partnership will be addressing the topic at its April board meeting. Currently, Trish Jared, Kingsland Downtown Development Authority and Darren Harper, City of Kingsland Economic Development Director are located in the building. It is anticipated that co-location will facilitate communications among the various organizations to promote economic development.
Washington Fly-in: Last week a small but effective delegation traveled to Washington DC to meet with legislators, military leaders, National Park Service and the US Chamber. While some information is confidential and cannot be shared, a recap of the trip was covered at the legislative affairs committee meeting on Wednesday, April 2.
Membership & Marketing: This committee along with a team of volunteers is working to re-brand the chamber and grow our membership. Our recent membership drive resulted in 33 new members. Congratulations to CB Yadav's team for placing first, bringing in ten new members. He received a covented media package for his efforts, valued at over $4000! An orientation is set for Friday, April 4th at 8:30a.m. and is open to all members, new and existing, to network and learn how to maximize chamber membership. Click here to register. Admission is free. Chick-Fil-A is sponsoring the breakfast.
Leadership Camden: Brochures about Leadership Camden and applications for consideration for participation for this prestigious program are now available. The calendar is tentative, while we confirm locations and speaker details. Click here for more information. Two partial scholarships will be available. We expect this to be a very large class.
As a final note, we wish Jonathan Glenn the best as he begins his professional soccer career in Iceland and welcome Diana McKinley as our new membership and events coordinator. I know she will be a valuable member of our chamber team, especially with a busy spring ahead of us!
Kind regards,
Leslie Hamrick
