Campus Ministry Meal

The Campus Ministry schedule for spring semester is out, and we have been asked to supply meals on the first Tuesday of each month.  That means  the students are meeting next Tuesday, February 3rd,  and they will be hungry! We need to plan food for 8 to 12 people.  If you would like to bring an entree,  salad, dessert, or soda pop for 10 college kids, please call 684-1895 right away!  Keep it simple; but we need to have one thing  on the menu that a vegetarian can enjoy.  (They had pizza this week, so that's not an option).  Mother Laurie Lewis and Deacon Jeff will be very grateful!

Funeral Planning Workshop

You've thought about it many times. Take the first step and attend Mother Dawn's four-week Funeral Planning Workshop. There will be an evening class and a daytime class to choose from. We will go through the funeral service in the Book of Common Prayer, consider options like which scripture passages to choose, what hymns you might have and whether you would choose to include the Holy Eucharist. The group may discuss topics of interest to participants such as: Should I be cremated? Where should the final resting place of my body or my ashes be? What about dealing with the funeral home, family or other complications? We will discuss the theological message of the Episcopal funeral service and reflect on suggested scripture readings.
The evening group will meet on Tuesdays at 6:30 from February 24 through March 17. The daytime group will meet on Thursdays at 10:00 AM beginning on February 26 and concluding on March 19.

ESS Fundraiser, A Night on the Red Carpet, Sunday Feb. 22

The Episcopal Social Services fundraiser, A Night on the Red Carpet, will be held Sunday, February 22 at Abode Home. This event helps fund the programs which ESS provides for those in need. Each area parish is asked to donate a themed basket for the silent auction. Please help fund our basket with cash donations. A decision will be made on the theme for the basket once the money is collected. If you write a check make it payable to St. James with a note in the memo saying ESS basket. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. All donations will need to be in by Sunday, February 8. Thank you for your support. If you have questions, please contact Mary Beth Thomas at 685-8650.

Youth Outreach helping with Bags of Blessings

Once again the St. James Youth plan on assisting with the
Bags of Blessings. This is a program that is coordinated by Partners of Wichita. There are two ways to help. First, we are looking for trial size toiletries (details in the flyer). They will be bagged and given to local agencies so they hand them out when people are in need. Second on Friday Feb. 27th at 5:30 we are going to help finish the last of the bagging and cleanup. Pizza will be served so let us know if you can make it so we can have plenty of eats.

Wednesday Night Youth Group
