PARISH NEWS

My Dear Special Members of St. James

It has been requested  I convey a most hearty, blessed, thank you for your splendid participation and support of the 84th Olde English Tea. The three chair liaisons, Shirley Seminoff, Debbie Johnson and Kay Hoffman, sing praises of your dedication, hours of assistance and overall support. A bloody, good rally!

Once again YOU made this cherished event a jolly, grand success; even though some had to don their Wellies to trek a bit in the spring showers.

Shirley and Debbie and Kay thank you and I thank you.

Ta, Ta 'til the 85th!
Mrs. Walter Wintle, Honorary chair Mouse
Readers  needed for Pentecost

On Pentecost, Sunday, May 19, at the Sunday services the New Testament lesson will be read in English from the lectern as members of the congregation read it in different languages. We have translations from Arabic to Wolof, so please contact the office if there is one you are comfortable reading and we will give you a copy.  The more participants, the better. The voices blend together to make a great sound. Please consider sharing your talents with the congregation. Our EWARM families may be participating as well. Adrienne Edwards is coordinating and will provide further instructions.

GUILD HALL PLAYERS presents The Cherry Orchard May 23-26

The next Guild Hall production Anton Chekhov's masterpiece comedy drama first performed 110 years ago is still a truly modern play.  Chekhov was the father of modern drama as we know it through film and television.  This play looks with humor and compassion at the lives of a Russian family facing personal crises and not knowing what choices to make to find the happiness they so desire.  These are very human people you will recognize played by one of the strongest casts GHP has ever assembled.  Don't miss this exceptional piece of theatre!   Thursday May 23-Saturday May 25 8 pm  Sunday May 26 7 pm  Contact the church office for reservations or buy tickets at the door.  Seating is limited.

Purchase, Reload and Reuse your  EPIC Dillons Gift Card

Everyone has a great opportunity to help St. James by purchasing EPIC cards and putting more money on the card on a regular and recurring basis.  The Dillons Gift Card can be used to purchase groceries, gas, and gift cards to other places.  This is a great time to purchase Gift Cards, they make the perfect gift.  No guess work and don't we all appreciate those little plastic money cards?  This is the perfect time with Mother's Day, graduations and so many weddings coming up in the next few months. The Dillons Gift Cards can be purchased from Jim Petty on Sunday mornings or from the bookkeeper, Joyce Haynes during church office hours.  Please help, buy and use the St. James Dillons Gift Cards.

Nursery and Children's Chapel volunteers are needed

Please consider signing up for one Sunday a month to help out with, care for and nurture our youngest parishioners. See Kellie Newlin or Fr. David with questions or suggestions.

Coffee Hour refreshments

It's wonderful to have refreshments for coffee hour. There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board outside the lounge to volunteer to bring refreshments. Pick the Sunday that works for you.
