Happy Spring everyone!
At this time of new birth and growth, I am excited to announce the long awaited Functional Sexology™ Certification Program! The full explanation about the program is at: http://www.fernlifecenter.com/classes/functional-sexology-training-program/
We started this program because in our current health care model of insurance reimbursement, people are still falling through the cracks and health care providers are not being reimbursed for educating and empowering their clients. In the past 5 years, I have personally taken a yearly cut in pay from insurance carriers. It has become an unsustainable model of medical delivery for us at Fern Life Center. As I have been sitting with this and evaluating solutions, I realized it's time to teach everyone what I have spent the last 30 years learning. Thus, Functional Sexology™ and the SEX system™ was born.
What is Functional Sexology™?
Functional Sexology™ is the art and science of getting to the root cause of lack of sexual desire by really listening to people's story, testing and correcting imbalances and unblocking areas that fuel vitality. Functional Sexology™ integrates the cutting edge research of functional medicine, the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, the healing compassion of psychotherapy and the client's story. The practice of Functional Sexology™ includes testing and correcting for genetic, cellular, and biochemical reasons for disruptions in the 4 "F"s: feeding, fighting, fleeing and mating (you get the picture on that last "f"). Learning Functional Sexology™also includes learning tools that can help heal old cognitive beliefs that are not serving a life filled with vitality. It turns out that life really IS ALL ABOUT SEX!
In the world of Functional Sexology™, the SEX system™ stands for:
S: stress, sex and self-beliefs, safety (immune and emotional), spirituality
E: elimination, endocrine, energy (cellular and nutrition), epigenetics
X: eXcretion (detoxification pathways)
Who can study and practice Functional Sexology™?
Anyone in a helping profession. Licensed medical providers (MDs, DOs, DCs, ARNPs, RNs, RDs, LACs, PTs) and psychotherapists who are credentialed can bill insurance for their services if they desire. They can also diagnose and treat imbalances.
Unlicensed health providers like health coaches, nutritionists, herbalists, Ayurvedic practitioners and licensed massage therapists, fitness coaches, colon hydrotherapists, sex therapists, yoga teachers, meditation teachers, etc. can benefit greatly from learning Functional Sexology because they will learn this information, how to run the tests (we work with labs who will allow you to use their products), how to interpret the tests and how to provide the information without diagnosing. It will open up new realms in your ability to actually help your clients achieve whole life vitality using Functional Sexology™.
Lay people who are on a path of self-healing (many of whom I have met who know much more than most doctors). You are also invited to certify in Functional Sexology and begin to use your talents to help others.
Why is Functional Sexology™ so important?
Ayurvedic practitioners, health and life coaches know how to reach people through coaching and teaching lifestyle changes. Medical providers and herbalists know the science behind imbalances. Therapists know the emotional side of illness. Energy workers know the energetic being. Nutritionists know nutrition, etc. This compartmentalization is not serving any of us. There are too many people falling in the gaps between these sciences. We need a bridge. This does not mean All providers have to be an expert in each other's fields. I call the bridge between the sciences Functional Sexology™ and use the acronym SEX because like birth, death, and taxes, sex is a part of life...whether you have it or don't have it...it's still part of us. It's a slice of the pie that can be given away (as in spiritual renunciation). When that is done it is replaced with daily routines and practices that are meant to re-channel that sexual desire into something other than the act of sex, but the energy and vitality is still there (Shakti). It can be over eaten and it can be under eaten. It's there. So let's make it functional. Let's move into that vitality for life-the zest and the juice that is creative energy. Understanding a little about psychology, endocrinology, neurobiology, immunology, and sexology will bring you to a true understanding of how to get the most of your life and how to optimize the vitality of your clients. By the way, that just spelled PENIS. Easy to remember! And the parts of the brain involved in sexual desire spell out VAGINA. The combination of both? Functional Sexology™.
